Highlands 77 Brossart 52

Recommended Posts

Although losing by 25, I thought the Mustangs took a step forward last night.

Agree on the Birds being big, strong, and overpowering in the paint, but we battled them to within five points early on in the third quarter, when they eased off to a more realistic 61-48 lead after three.

The fourth quarter in which we somewhat inexplicably only scored 4 points, turned the scoreboard completely against us, and accounted for the final score.

Sisson was as billed, and we had no match-up for him as he led all scorers with 21. Nate Roberts had a big night putting up 18, and Alex Starkey added 13.

Mustang Senior J.D. Schumacher led the Mustangs with 19 points, and is emerging as a consistent top-scorer, and our football quarterback, Tyler MacDonald, used some muscle to contribute 11 in another blue-collar effort. Ethan Eilerman contributed 9.

All in all, we should benefit from the experience.

Highlands gets Newport on Monday in Fort Thomas, and then Hamilton (OH) on the 22nd before heading to Freeport, Florida for a post-Christmas tournament.

The Mustangs will break for Exams and Senior retreat until Thursday when we will be a part of the Grant County Holiday Tournament, with our first-round opponent being South Oldham.
