Final. I thought this one might be a little closer. Congrats to Oldham.

Tipping point came in the third period when Oldham, leading by 7, turned over South. Travis Henderson steamed in for a contested layup, which he missed, but he was able to tip the rebound out to Andre Brewer, who nailed a three pointer for a double-digit lead.

South immediately turned the ball over, and Brewer hit a layup, was fouled, and hit the free throw.

The 6-0 "Brewer run" in the span of maybe 10 seconds stretched the margin from 7 to 13, and South never got the margin under double digits the rest of the night.

Jackson Gibson started for the first time since his late-season injury, and looked like the pre-injury Gibson, hitting 9 of 12 shots for 23 total points and 8 rebounds. Fellow senior Zach Larimore had a similar linescore, hitting 10 of 15 shots, scoring 23 points and 8 rebounds also.

Oldham was 14 of 24 from the floor in the pivotal second half, when they outscored South, 44-29, after leading by just six (33-27) at the half.

Andre Brewer and Travis Henderson both scored 12 for Oldham.

South Oldham hit 61% of their first-half shots to stay close, but struggled with turnovers against the Oldham defense all night. In the second half, the Dragons cooled considerably, hitting only 8 of 24 shots. They finished 19 of 42 from the floor, 8 of 19 from beyond the arc, and 10 of 12 at the line

Devin Young led South with 13 points and 7 boards, hitting 4 of his 8 shots, including two threes. But he struggled to get open looks; Oldham's 6'3" junior Christian Harper challenged him all night, and Young simply didn't many open looks until Harper got into some foul trouble and had to sit.

Luke Morrison hit 4 of 10 shots and scored 10 points for the Dragons.

Unofficially, Pegasus Sports' stats had Oldham County winning the rebounding battle, 30-16.

The win gives Oldham County its 8th consecutive district 29 title, the second-longest current streak in the state behind Madisonville North Hopkins, who won last night to claim the 7th district for the 9th year in a row.

Newport Central Catholic had been going for their 10th consecutive District 36 title, but they lost to Newport last night to end their run.
