North Oldham / Oldham County 1-22-18 previews

North Oldham (10-8) travels to Buckner to face the 15th ranked Oldham County Colonels in a key 29th district seeding battle.

Oldham leads the series between the two teams, 15-8, and has won four straight, including a 76-63 decision in Goshen last year, when current OC Senior forward Zach Larimore scored 24 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

Both teams come into the game riding a two game winning streak; Oldham lost its first round game in the Toyota Classic to #7 Lafayette, but bounced back to defeat Woodford County and Wayne County.

North rebounded from a loss to #14 Butler to post victories over Shelby County and Henry County.

North is 1-0 in the district; a win over Oldham County would make the 1/30/18 showdown with South Oldham the deciding game for the #1 seed in the post-season district tournament.

An Oldham victory would raise the possibility of a three-way tie between North, Oldham, and South Oldham at the top of the district, if North were to then beat South on 1/30.

Should be a packed gym at Oldham County HS tonight. North won't be intimidated by the Oldham press, I don't think - they've played plenty of pressing teams already - but it remains to be seen whether they will actually handle it well or not. North seemed lethargic in the win Saturday over Henry County; doubt that they will have that problem tonight, though.

Oldham continues to have an elite resume this year; only two losses to KY teams, #7 Lafayette and county rival South Oldham. We'll see how the Colonels handle this rivalry game; a must-win if they still harbor hopes of a district 1 seed.
