Bishop Brossart 68 Lloyd Memorial 62

Recommended Posts

I took this one in as the Camels were off and have the rare Wednesday night game at Mason County tomorrow. Can't help but wonder what could have been for Lloyd had a couple of their players concentrated more on the game instead of the constant talking. It also ended up costing them with a technical during a critical point in the game when they had built a lead of 6 or 7.

Brossart found the Lloyd Juggernauts quite contentious in our first outing of the new year. The visitors led 13-9 after a quarter and then overcame a Brossart 26-24 halftime lead, hitting a 3/4 quarter court shot at the end of the third quarter to take a 44-41 lead and then another 3-pointer to start the fourth quarter for a 47-41 advantage. The Mustangs went on a 6-0 run to knot the score at 47s and then continued to improve their advantage to 50-47, and then later 55-49 and 58-53, before the Juggs battled back to tie things up at 58-58 with only a minute left in the game. The Mustangs used their patience and free-throw shooting to draw off in the final seconds to post the 68-62 hard-fought victory.

For the contest the Mustangs knocked home 21 of 27 freebies, and more importantly 16 of 18 in the final stanza. Bryce Donnelly hit 8 of 8 while coming down the stretch.

Freshman Carson Schirmer scored a career-high 10 and Sophomore Ethan Eilerman led all scorers with 19 - also a career high. Zach Hamberg finished the night with 15 points and a trio of 3-balls. Donnelly finished his night's work with 14 points, 6 rebounds, doled out 8 assists and blocked a shot.

The Juggernauts were led by Jordan Fann wiht 19 points. Jamal Neal netted 15, and Evan Molitor 11.

Brossart will take on 10th Region heavyweight Campbell County Friday night in the Annual Crossstown Classic at 7:30pm at the Campbell County Middle School, and then embark on their mission to get to EKU, opening in the 10th Region All "A" Classic on Saturday night vs Calvary Christian at Nicholas County High School at 7:30pm.
