ColonelMike
Turnovers the story of the game.... - Tied at 17 after one period. - North led at the half, 30-28. Despite the tremendous Waggener pressure, North had just 4 turnovers. Waggener played 13 players in the first half, trying to wear North down. - North extended the lead to 37-30 - their largest advantage - early in the third quarter with a 7-2 run, but Waggener suddenly tightened up on defense and began forcing turnovers, which keyed an 8-0 Wildcat run to allow the visitors to go up, 38-37. - Waggener led, 46-45, after three. North Oldham's Dylan Yates hit a 55 foot three pointer, banking it in at the buzzer to pull North to within 1. Actually, North fared pretty well, considering they had 9 third quarter turnovers. - The lead was still just 4 points heading into the final minute, but Waggener pulled away at the line, winning 66-58. - North Oldham shot well versus Waggener (22/47 46.8%, 8/21 threes 38.1%, and 6/9 FTs 67%), but only took one second half FT as they settled for long shots (hit 6 of 12 threes in the second half.) - Turnovers were huge. North - after only 4 in the first half - finished with 19. Waggener had just nine. - Waggener's work on the offensive glass paid huge dividends. - North scoring: Dylan Yates 18 points (4 of 8 threes), Justin Rose 16 points/7 reb., Cole Fischer 10 points, Grant Adelson 5, Zach Butler 4, Justin Burton 3, Layne McIntosh 2 - Waggener scoring: Brewer 11, Kalakon 11, Hudson 8, Hendricks 8, Simic 7, Rufus 6, Williams 5, Montgomery 4, Chappell 3 overall 25/51 field goals, 3/13 threes, 12/17 FT - Rebounding: Waggener 30, North Oldham
ColonelMike
All in all, very impressive game for North, even in the loss. The Mustangs are tremendously improved since Game 1.
