ATLCat
Our Eastern Kentucky Power Rankings are Sponsored by Lake Cumberland Sports LakeCumberlandSports.com is an internet broadcast and media company out of Somerset, KY founded by four guys who love High School Sports and love broadcasting! When local radio decided to opt out of airing High School Sports; We decided to jump in. In 2016, we worked with an out of state company and did well. Starting in 2017, we decided to do this all by ourselves and we have been in Overdrive ever since. We have been named the Official Broadcast Partners for both Southwestern and Pulaski County High Schools. We will be doing Football, Basketball (Boys and Girls), as well as Baseball, and Softball in the spring. We may even sneak in some other sports as well. We can be found at LakeCumberlandSports.com and on Tune-In. All games will be archived throughout the season, so if someone misses a game we will have them covered. If you would like to advertise with us we can be reached by email at sales@lakecumberlandsports.com LakeCumberlandSports (@L_C_Sports) on Twitter Lake Cumberland Sports - Home | Facebook And Instagram (still learning) 15. Perry Central Commodores (5A, 6-0)- The Commodores took care of business at Pike Central and keep their undefeated dreams alive. This week they host Whitley County in a huge game. 14. Knox Central Panthers (4A, 5-1)- The Panthers keep winning and take care of Clay County. Things get much more difficult with Wayne County up next. 13. Montgomery County Indians (5A, 5-1)- Make it three straight games scoring over 50 points as the Indians pluck the South Laurel Cardinals. Montgomery County's biggest regular season game is next as they take on a very good Madison Southern team. 12. Raceland Rams (1A, 4-3)- It was an admirable effort, but the Rams could not overcome Somerset's tough Defense and lost by 3. Raceland regroups this week before entering the stretch. 11. Pulaski County Maroons (5A, 2-4)- Pulaski took the week off and now face a game that many may have overlooked. Lincoln County is playing good ball and will be a challenge. 10. Ashland Tomcats (4A, 5-2)- The Tomcats keep rolling on and are now clearly a Top 5 team in their class. East Carter should not be too tall of a task. 9. Hazard Bulldogs (1A, 4-1)- It wasn't easy, but the Bulldogs essentially locked in a District Title by outlasting rival Pikeville. Phelps is much improved, but should not be too much for Hazard to handle. 8. Rockcastle County Rockets (4A, 4-2)- Rockcastle took their second straight defeat and have to wonder where their Offense has gone. They better find it this week playing Russell County. 7. Paintsville Tigers (1A, 5-1)- After a week off the Tigers jump back into District play against Fairview. Paintsville's lone loss looks better as Hurricane, WV secured a big win. 6. Somerset Briarjumpers (2A, 5-2)- The Jumpers once again rode their Defense to a ranked over a ranked foe. Somerset now gets their most important game to date against 2A's top team Danville. 5. Southwestern Warriors (5A, 4-2)- The Warriors are starting to get their mojo and put a nice beat down on a solid 6A Central Hardin. District play opens with South Laurel as French's boys looks to make a move. 4. Wayne County Cardinlas (4A, 6-1)- Wayne made a statement that they are still firmly near the top of their Class by winning comfortably over Rockcastle County. The Cards get another solid test against Knox Central. 3. Belfry Pirates (3A, 5-1)- Belfry's Offense has cut through the last three weeks like a hot knife through butter as they put another running clock up, this time against Floyd Central. Things get tougher in a big hurry as Belfry takes on a very good Cabell Midland, WV team. 2. Corbin Redhounds (3A, 5-1)- Corbin had no hangover of a big win as they demolished McCreary Central. Expect a similar result against an over matched Jackson County team. 1. Johnson Central Golden Eagles (4A, 6-0)- Only two undefeated teams remain and after this week there may be only one. Johnson Central coasted past East Carter and should do just fine against Greenup County. Golf Claps: Prestonsburg Blackcats (2A, 3-3)- Prestonsburg all but locked up their District Title by winning with surprising ease over Leslie County. Bath County Wildcats (3A, 5-1)- We see you Coach Poynter! The Wildcats nipped West Carter and still have their own destiny in their hands. Lynn Camp Wildcats (1A, 4-2)- The Cats took down Clinton County and can improve to 5-2 if they can down a Pineville team that they should be a favorite against. Thumbs Down: Whitley County Colonels (5A, 3-3)- The Colonels fall all the way out of the Top 15 after losing to North Laurel and jeopardizing their District standing. They need to rebound but Perry Central won't be easy. Knott Central Patriots (3A, 3-3)- When you score 87 points in the past two games you should have two wins. The Patriots have allowed 121 points though, and now are having to scrape and claw to reach the playoffs. Rockcastle County Rockets (4A, 4-2)- This "Thumbs Down" is for sportsmanship. Rockcastle purposely ran through Wayne County's banner and backed up the gesture by losing in a shutout. Player of the Week: WR Jaden Campbell, Fleming County Securing 5 catches for 118 yards in a big win over Russell County is noteworthy in itself, but when you win the game with a 79 yard punt return with under 30 seconds to play, THAT is what earns you a POTW. Game of the Week: Williamsburg Yellowjackets (1A, 3-3) at Harlan Green Dragons (1A, 2-4)- Class 1A District 7 is completely unsolved and no puzzle piece may be bigger than this game. Williamsburg appears a significant favorite, but the Jackets enter with back to back losses against 1A foes.
