The match was the Horizon League opener for both teams. With the win, NKU improves to 4-4-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the Horizon League. UIC drops to 2-7-0 on the year and 0-1-0 in League play. "Our team stayed with the game, defended well, and scored two quality goals," said NKU head coach Bob Sheehan. "We are happy to earn the three points in our first Horizon League match."
