Only five 6A unbeaten teams remain after 4 weeks of games: Pleasure Ridge Park (4-0), Simon Kenton (4-0), Trinity (4-0), Ohio County (3-0), and St. Xavier (3-0). On the flipside, four 6A squads are winless: Cooper (0-4), Bryan Station (0-3), Dunbar (0-3), and Seneca (0-3).

Scott County (3-1) leads the largest division with 186 points scored while Dunbar (0-3) is scoreless. Manual (1-2) has allowed 27 points while Pleasure Ridge Park has given up 34 points in 4 winning efforts.

Manual High School’s varsity has scored 17 points this season while allowing the aforementioned 27 points. The Crimsons are currently in a rebuilding mode under Scott Carmony. They did not have a freshman team last season. Carmony assembled a new staff to coach the first year players in 2017. Manual has a seven game freshman schedule and owns a 40-6 victory over Fern Creek. The Crimsons have an eight game junior varsity schedule and are 1-1. Staffers say it may take three years for Manual to be seriusly contending for their district title. The varsity hosts Ballard this Friday night in a matchup of top ten teams in the BluegrassPreps 6A rankings.

Pleasure Ridge Park is off this week. The Panthers host St. Xavier on September 22. The Tigers won in 27-17 2016 and 21-13 in 2015 and this game is expected to be very competitive.

Lafayette plays Moeller (OH) at Lockland, Ohio’s Roettger Stadium. This game completes the Crusaders three game strecth versus Kentucky 6A schools. The Generals are 1-3 and are heavy underdogs to the Greater Catholic League-South conference member. Moeller split their two earlier road games versus Bluegrass State foes. The Crusaders dropped a 38-30 contest to Trinity and defeated Scott County 38-28.

The BluegrassPreps faithful picked 8 of 9 winners in 6A polls last week (winners in bold): Trinity at Male; Scott County vs. Moeller; Pleasure Ridge Park vs. North Hardin; Simon Kenton vs. Dixie Heights, Manual vs. Western, Butler vs. Fern Creek, St. Xavier vs. Fairdale, and Butler vs. Fern Creek. The lone error was Lafayette vs. Douglass. This brings the BGP winning team picks to 26 out of 29 for a whopping 89.6% in 6A polls.

6A games of interest this week with polls include Trinity vs. Champagnat Catholic (FL) if the Lions can escape Miami and the remnants of Hurricane Irma; Scott County at La Salle (OH); Ryle at Campbell County; Simon Kenton vs. Cooper; St. Xavier at Central; Male at Western; and Ballard at Manual.
