12th Region Basketball

This past Monday night a 47th District rivalry game was played in Somerset, Kentucky. The number one team in the 12th Region and 12th ranked team in the BGP state poll, Pulaski County, took on a 4-11 Somerset team that was struggling to finish games and was desperate to turn the season around. Pulaski County has been dominating in 12th Region play with only one team coming within 10 points of the Maroons up to this game. The Jumpers, on the other hand were in need of a spark to lift their team out of a bad slump and a spark they found. Welcome to the big stage 8th grader Kade Grundy! The young point guard put on a show that left the Maroon fans shaking their heads and the Briar Jumper faithful cheering with jaws dropped as the student section chanted “He’s in 8th grade!” over and over. Pulaski did everything they could to try and contain him but the 14 year old from Meece Middle still finished with 30 points and lifted the Briar Jumper to a 79-76 victory over Pulaski County. This was the game heard around the region and opens the door to what looks to be a very competitive 12th Region. Here is this week's rankings and review of the 12th Region.
