Highlands can win this one. Its not a KY team versus an OH team. On the field, it is Highlands versus Trotwood. I do believe that a team can beat a group of talented individuals. Play with pride. Hit them as hard as you can, so that when the game is over they remember who hit them. Highland has talent. This Cov Cath guy will be pulling for Highlands.

I had a coach in basketball that had a temper. We were not playing well in the first half and were down by 5 or 6. He came into the locker room at the half, looked disgusted, punched a locker and walked out. Never said a word to us. We looked at each other and went out for the second half. The coach just sat at the far end of the bench and didn't talk to us. When the coach didn't tell us who was in, we decided to go with the 5 that started the game. We played better in the second half and won the game without coaching. We found out later that week that the coach had broken his hand when he punched the locker and was in pain. I'm sure that he was even a littler madder that we did better without his coaching. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Who does Lex Cath play this week?

My decision comes down to who is the qb for Cov Cath. With Isler I give the edge to Cov Cath. He has the best arm and can see over the big guys up front to find the receivers. Makes NCC defense worry about stopping more than the run.

The Enquirer today stated that Coach B considered Isler the "front runner." This team needs a decision not a "front runner." Give the quarterback a vote of confidence and the support of the coach. Then get down to work with that quarterback and the offense. We saw who threw the ball best, got the most first downs, and moved the team down field for a touchdown. The offense needs time to gel with one quarterback (not a revolving door of quarterbacks). If not, by game ten; there may be no playoffs or one and done. At Cov Cath, expectations go further than being satisfied to make the playoffs. The radio announcers bashed the undecided quarterback topic. They felt that someone needed to be decided upon.

Any offense that is one dimensional (run or pass only) lets the defense key in and stop that one facet. A passing threat spreads the field out and gives the run game more holes to hit. A run threat sucks in the linebackers and opens up the passing game. An offense that controls the ball and time of possession by moving the chains, keeps their defense rested while wearing down the opponent's defense. :ylsuper:

You have got to like Bballfan22's team pride and enthusiasm. Just make sure that you think with your head and not your heart. Not that a little heart can hurt. I would like nothing better than to see Holy Cross rack up some wins.

Rivalries are what make high school sports great. Showing that your school is better (at least for that year) gives reason to boast. When and where do these teams play?

Interceptions or fumbles? If fumbles, caused by hard hits or just muffs by SK? If interceptions, caused by bad throws, good defensive back play, or defensive pressure on quarterback?

A viable passing game and the running game open up holes for each other. Moving the ball helps keep the defense off the field and fresh. No doubt that LaSalle was a tough opening game. Keep your heads up and work hard.

What can CCH use from this game to move on? The schedule is tough, but it is what it is. Next up NCC.

From what I did get to hear on the radio, there weren't too many first downs for CCH. Got to keep the chains moving and keep the defense off the field. It had to be tough for the D to be out on the field for so long in the heat. It sounded like LaSalle is much tougher than Roger Bacon.

Did not get to make it to the game. Who lead the team? Who was able to throw the ball best? As a team, what can CCH come out of this game and use to improve for the rest of the season and beyond?

I agree that it is bush league, but as a learning lesson the boys on defense will be the ones who really will know better in high school and above. Won't be fooled again!

I agree. Practice time is usually hotter. Safety is a priority. Later starts and pre-hydrating would be wise. We will see who was serious about conditioning and who skated.

How many experienced varsity players are returning this year?

Furnish seems to have a real nose for the ball on defense. He reacted quickly and showed great closing speed when the ball was in the air.
