The heat this Friday?

Featured Replies

With the expected temps. on Friday, can games or game times be effected if the heat index is too high?

Games fall under the same rules as practices. If the heat index is too high the games will be delayed. Most start in the evening so the index should be okay by then

It sounds like its going to be close at game time in NKY.

From past yrs, the heat index usually drops to legal temps between 6:45 and 7pm. Hopefully it will stay that way. Personally, I think they should go ahead and move the times back at least 1/2 hr just in case. That way, no one has to sit around in the hot weather and wait.

Remember also that the rules apply to warmups (no activity at all, no pads, etc. depending on the heat index), so even if the heat index drops to acceptable levels at 6:59 PM, they would not be able to get underway at 7:00 PM. I agree that announcing a delay in advance (even if just posting to a school website OR BGP on FRI afternoon) of 30 - 60 minutes might be a good idea.

I laughed when I read this. Honestly, that's all they'd have to do...

Didn't you know that everyone in NKY belongs to BGP!

There are bowl games this weekend though, the one we are having in Mayfield is starting at 6 so I am not sure it will be cool enough at that point to play or not. I think it will get delayed some myself.

Usually practice is some time between 4:30 and 8:00 Game time is 7:30.

It's more hotter around 4-6:30

Now for people who have games on Sat different story.

They're predicting a record high of 100 degrees in NKY on Friday.
