Dont be so confident. Holy Cross without a doubt has the better hitters of the two teams. Yes Smith throws hard, but his control is virtually nonexistent unless he takes a lot off his ball. If he does that than he is hittable. If he doesn't than there is a good chance that if the HC batter is smart, he can earn a walk from him. Roenker is a solid pitcher and I don't know if Beechwood has the hitters... should be a good game nonetheless, but I'd look for HC to surprise you.

From what I heard it had nothing to do with Dylan being sick. Not to spoil everything as it is not my place, but there was no reason the freshman should have gone in as opposed to Cottingham. Dylan has a great arm and is a very good defensive catcher. His hitting needs some def. work. But he is better than the freshman who came in last night. I don't think there really is any dispute of that. So it will be interesting to find out the reasoning for it.

I think Tri player of the year is a great idea and all three are deserving. But the one who has meant the most to the team overall is easy to figure out. My vote would go to tri player of the year, but it's very unlikely that will ever happen lol. And I personally think it's a pick your poison with the middle of CovCath's lineup. What is the point in IW walking Maile to get to Darner or Isler. There are certain situations where it may be beneficial to IW one of them in a "this is it, if they knock this run in they win" but otherwise just pitch and hope for the best.

This was a great game! Fast as well! Both Etschied and Isler pitched a heck of a game, but Isler really dominates a game on the mound. 10-0 speaks for itself obviously. His RBI's were also huge as they were the only 2 scored runs of the game for CovCath. He has had a heck of a year. Neil Martin has been hitting the ball very well and Siemer/Isler's play to end the game was beautiful. All three of the boys from CovCath deserve to be in the running for POY..but Isler has def. been very valuable to his team in all facets. Darner's hits and RBI's are nice too..

It would def. be a good thing for them to get their bats going, but it doesn't help the cause when the pitcher does not have control and is walking/hitting batters. Makes your batting situation even more pressured.

If Smith has control over both his head and his pitches than Beechwood will take this. That being said, I don't see it happening...I see HC taking this 4 to 1.

I have heare from multiple people that Smith throws hard and when he has a good day, it's GOOD. But he struggles with control and often gets down on himself. Obviously his college coaches will fix that and he'll be good to go. Good win for CovCath and I would def. say these are the 1 and 2 pitchers in NKY.

There are plenty of kids who should be in the conversation. Smith, Brake, and Jones all deserve to be in discussion. But what the three from CCH have done, [three year starters, and Maile and Isler as freshman] they are the ones I feel deserve it most. If we are to go with only one player as of right now, I'd say Darner. But I think it'd be really awesome to acknowledge these three kids together, and if they ever considered doing a tri-players of the year...this is def. the year to do it.

I doubt it. If they walk Maile, what are they gonna do, walk RD as well [who IMO is more of a threat right now] and then put two on for Isler? That being said, Maile's start was def. not great for what he is capable of while RD's was fantastic. We'll see everything even out now.

Siemer has done a good job in the 2 hole this year. When they need a bunt, he gets it down for the most part, and he can get a hit when needed as well. I like Lafever in the 6 spot, because it makes it more difficult to pitch around any of the big three. If you pitch around Maile, you get to Darner. Pitch around Darner you get to Isler. Pitch around him and Lafever will likely make you pay.

Yes, it's a pretty unbelievable middle lineup. Maile Darner Isler Lafever [who has been hitting the ball pretty darn well].

Yes this a big game, esp. when comparing possible opponents. Between Holmes and HC, I'd prefer to play Holmes obviously. That being said, Holmes does not just roll over and let teams walk on them. They only lost to HC 8 to 5 tonight, and when CovCath played them it was about the same score. So it's not just an automatic..

Right now, IMO it's between Darner and Isler for two different reasons. Darner's hitting has been unbelievable and you can't deny the numbers. Isler's pitching has been pretty dominant and his numbers are hard to ignore as well. There are obviously 3 kids from CCH who are in the mix, and I'd say there are a couple others but none as clear as those. Jones will be next year, but I don't see him beating any of the three from CovCath this year.

I have heard from some pretty reliable people that have watched Smith [as I have only seen him once or twice], that he is a legit mid 80's, touchng upper 80's pitcher. Have also heard he is a very good pitcher and is def. top 3 or 4 pitcher in the region. If all this is true, which Im thinking it is, then this could be a pretty good pitchers duel. CovCath has the stronger bats, great defense, and Isler has been pretty good on the mound, so I'm going to say they come out on top. But I don't think it will be a blowout.

This is an important game. We will see AJ Smith vs. Isler. CovCath will come out 4 to 0.
