Scott County 62 Trinity 56
Congrats to the Cards! That was a big time win. Happy that Gilbert is shining brightly on the big stage of the Sweet Sixteen. Hope he puts on another show tomorrow.

CovCath Student Section.....hats off to you guys.
They are awesome. My favorites from them so far are: 1. They got all of Rupp involved in doing the wave. Then changed speeds. They went nuts when it made it to the Clay Co cheering section and they participated. 2. The free throw. "He's scared, he shakin', you know he ain't gonna make it" while jumping up and down so hard that I worry they will collapse the bleachers. They have been entertaining, creative, together, and classy. Everything you could want out of a student section.

Scott County 64 Johnson Central 55
The Cards haven't played all that well in the first two rounds. They will have to bring their A game tonight if they are going to beat Trinity.

Missing school for state tourney?
Part of Scott Co's "make up missed days from snow" plan is that all three middle schools are making up a half-day on Wednesday night DURING the Scott Co first round game. Mandatory for teachers to be in the building from 4-7pm for parent teacher conferences. On the overall topic, I like PP2's plan. If your school is in any state event and kids want to go support the team/choir/etc encouraging that school spirit has value beyond testing. Anymore, it is hard to get the student body to come to their own gym to support teams. If I were king, a ticket would be an excused absence. Make up the work upon return.

My Favorite Memory From The Sweet 16 Is...
When I was in 6th grade my church league coach took me and one other kid on our team to the sweet 16 finals. My first. I was hooked. He also played Michael W Smith's Secret Ambition album on the away down and back and I became a fan of contemporary Christian music. Still am.

Scott County/Fleming County predictions (Sweet 16 1st Round)
The problem with Dave's theory is.... If you don't foul Gilbert, he will make the shot the vast majority of the time. The only strategy I have seen work against Gilbert was to double team him every time he touches the ball... And he isn't selfish so he will hit the open man. He is deceptive and quick with the ball so he does draw a lot of fouls. But I haven't seen him flop too much. He usually plays through and tries to get "and 1's"

My Favorite Part Of The Sweet 16 Is...
Normal weeks I would agree. Thursday night of the Sweet Sixteen itakes on a life all its own. I may add a trip to Country Boy Brewing this year between sessions. I have heard good things.

My Favorite Part Of The Sweet 16 Is...
It's one of the only nights I ever visit the dark side. Let me enjoy it.

My Favorite Memory From The Sweet 16 Is...
2007 Scott Co over Ballard. Wasn't a great game but to me it was golden.

My Favorite Part Of The Sweet 16 Is...
Listening to legend coaches like Alan Feldhaus, Sr., Stan Hardin, etc, telling stories at the Hyatt Lobby bar after the games. Blue Moon/Redmons/2am Greasy Pizza place around the corner from Redmons on Thursday night. Most every referee in the state also keeps this schedule. Oh yeah.... and the games.

Boyle County - Steve Adams
A couple of thoughts When negotiating his deal I bet Chuck Smith had no clue what Coach Adams made, taught, or anything else. Unlike teachers who come in as low man on the totem pole, new coaches come in with the most negotiating power they will ever have (with a few exceptions of consistently highly successful coaches who stay at that school for a long time) Steve Adams is a very good coach. PP - we don't build fences around Scott Co and there are plenty of large houses to choose from

Bishop Brossart's Drew Burns commits to Centre
Great school. Great Coach there in Greg Mason. Congratulations to this young man.

Montgomery County 64 Bishop Brossart 49 (10th)
When it comes down to it... Sumo has proven time and time again that he is much more on top of things than everyone else in the building. Remember when the 9th region crew let Prewitt play with 5 fouls against Pendleton. Sumo was right. Everyone else was wrong.

Scott County 79 Madison Central 55 (11th Region Semi-finals)
Cards looked really good tonight. Gilbert was great but lots of players made solid contributions. Hines Jones did a very nice job replacing Matt Murray who served the first of his two game suspension. The final against Henry Clay will be a good one.

Dixie Heights 61 Conner 59 OT (9th)
Wow. What a block. Thanks for the video. Sure wish the Cougars could have pulled out the win...

Woodford County 82 Madison Southern 73 OT (11th)
Great game. Boggess is a lot of fun to watch. He is just a winner through and through.

Scott County vs Madison Central Predictions (11th)
You remember that Carter was offered by UK, UNC, UC, and about every other high major in the region? Comparing him to Carter is a compliment.

Scott County 62 Lexington Catholic 49 (11th)
With Murray out the next two games they are going to need someone to step up. Hines Jones would be my guess but with March Madness you never know.

Scott County 62 Lexington Catholic 49 (11th)
I thought Coach Hicks looked like a mastermind starting Banks. It was like he knew Catholic was going to try to play very slow and methodical and take advantage of Long not being able to pressure the ball. Banks was able to give pressure and it really seemed like Catholic wasn't ready for that and it shook them as Scott Co got out to a big lead early.

I didn't see what led up to the incident but Murray and Johnson got techs and then Murray wouldn't let it go. His teammates got him away (like 15' away on the other side of the court) but he walked back again to get the second tech. Very dumb. He will be missed these next two games and could cost the Cards a trip to Rupp because of this dumb decision. However... He was hurt part of the year and the Cards did just fine during that time. It forces Gilbert to handle the ball a lot more and expend more energy when they have to break a press.

Scott County 62 Lexington Catholic 49 (11th)
Gilbert put on a show early. He was hitting all kinds of tough shots. My two favorites were: 1 up and under step through as the Catholic defender flew by from 3 point land. 2. Catholic comes to double team him. He crosses over and one of the catholic kids falls down so he uses that kid on the ground as a screen to get away from the second kid in the double team and drains a deep three. He is also money from the free throw line.

Scott County vs. Lexington Catholic (11th) Predictions
I believe Southern beat Woodford a couple of weeks ago. I think that will be a close game too.

Montgomery County / Bishop Brossart Predictions (10th)
MoCo 54 BB 47. Should be a great game.

Well deserved honor Sumo. Congratulations.
