SC might be a better team with Long on the pines for now. I do not see an upset, but I believe MC will hang tough, Gilbert and Company by 7.

I'll never count out an Allen Feldhaus coached team, but the Indians have their work cut out for them in this one.

 

I liked what I saw from the Banks kid today.

 

It will be interesting to see how the Cards handle themselves if Murray is out.

 

At the end of the day, Long is 7 freaking feet tall and I think that Scott County hits their ceiling when he's in and playing well. I wonder if coming off the bench tonight was meant to motivate him? Even if he's just there taking up space, well... he's there taking up a lot of space and effecting the other team's shots at close range.

He's only a sophomore though and big men take lots of time to develop. Just what bits I've seen of Long, he has more tools than Carter did. Now, when I say that, I mean more things that mean he could be as good as he wants to be if he realizes his potential.

 

I think he's got way more ups, timing, and instincts than Carter ever had. Long's value is a shot blocker. His skill set also isn't horrible for a kid whose that young and so tall.

 

At the beginning of the year, it seemed like Long couldn't get out of his own way. Now, he's at least staying out on the floor, protecting the rim, and getting more points on lobs. Is he an all-state player this year? No. Is he a kid that is a weapon when he's on because they have kids like Gilbert, Martini, and Ware who can let him run in the background and just effect the game by standing at the rim and altering shots, getting rebounds that come right to him, and now occasionally finishing with a dunk when he wouldn't have made the catch at the beginning of the year? Certainly.

You remember that Carter was offered by UK, UNC, UC, and about every other high major in the region? Comparing him to Carter is a compliment.

I disagree. There have been a lot of players offered by UK that are not kids good players would be honored to be compared to.
