  1. Lou. Central v. Paducah Tilghman-- Central wins on a 33 yd. field goal as time expires. I believe this was the first field goal Central made or attempted all year. I "saw" it on the web.
  2. In the history of this series, X and T have met 12 times in the playoffs. The winner of the regular season game has lost 5 times. Despite what's being posted on here by some Trinity fans, mostly tongue in cheek, nobody that knows anything about high school football expects the Tigers to blow the Rocks away in this one. This is a clash of Titans. Both teams are outstanding. Both teams have athletes all over the field. Both teams are well coached. Both teams are well supported by their fans. I expect nothing less than a down to the the wire thriller. I'm sticking with X28 T24.
  3. Boyle County had an excellent freshmen team, as did Lex Cath.
  4. I give a very slight edge to the Tigers. These title games between X and T have traditionally been low scoring. But, weather permitting my gut tells me X will need to score 28 to win this. Final-- X 28 T 24.
  5. I know, its a shame the best two 6A teams in the state are playing for the state championship. All Louisville 6A teams: Male, Manual, Ballard, PRP, Fern Creek, Eastern, Southern, Butler, St.X, and Trinity should be in the same region and have to play each other in the first 3 rounds so as to insure that a school outside Jefferson County has the oppourtunity win a trophy. Oh wait, didn't Marshall County, Meade County, Boone County and Henry Clay just get that oppourtunity?
  6. WCJ, why would your son even think about changing his religion and going to Owensboro Catholic when the public school he attends beat them 24-6 this year?? You want to know how to "fix" it so there is more parity? I'll tell you. Pass legislation that requires all schools to have the same number of boys enrolled, public or private. This will assure that some of the kids who've attended catholic schools all their life, playing football in the catholic system since 3rd grade, will be denied admission to X and T and hence will have no choice but to attend a public school, unless they elect to attend a private school that hasn't reached its max number of boys ( schools like Evangel Christian, Beth Haven, Portland Christian...you've heard of those football private powerhouses haven't you). Then after all the public schools and privates have achieved equal male enrollment within a .05 percentage point you seperate the schools into 2 classes, 1 for public and 1 for private. You seperate because, well, we all know that the privates will cheat by recruiting and it wouldn't be fair to let X and T dominate a 1 class football system. Or, you can move to someplace like China where the government decides where you kids go to school and how many students are allowed to be enrolled in each school.
  7. Uhh...you're wrong becasue the general statement you made is incorrect.
  8. Congrats to Meade on a great season. By the way, you guys have the distinction of the largest visitor's side turnout at Bro. Moore stadium history. Stands were completely full and no empty spots along the fence. Jeb, you were dead on about your community's support for the Wave.
  9. Finch played tonight. Had about 20 yards on 4 or 5 carries. Glad he's back. I'm sure his injury has fully healed, but he didn't look as explosive as he did before the injury. I'm guessing it will still be running back by committe.
  10. Wow, what a pressure 33 yd. field goal with 4 secs left. Congrats Central!!
  11. The lack of football interest at Iroquois and other schools in Louisivlle is sad. Central is getting the kids out, but there's more players and coaches on the field than fans in stands. I'm not sure what could be done get parents and fans to these games. Someone suggested to me that these schools should charge no admission. I initially scoffed at the idea, $5 is keeping parents, family, friends and fans away? Then my friend, a social worker, suggested I knew little about the financials hardships that many of these families face everyday. A single mom, with 3 or 4 kids, often doesn't have a spare $20 to pay admission for her family to watch junior play. I guess we're not all fortunate to have even the slimmest of surplus income. Seems you have to somehow get the parents, student body and surrounding community involved. Make it a neighborhood event. Sponsor a cookout before the game, bring a dj before the game, have face painting or some kid stuff set up. I've also thought the KHSAA should let schools combine (ie. Iroquois and Shawnee) if they don't have sufficient player turn out to field a competitive team. Out of curiousity, what kind of fan support does the Iroquois girls basketball team receive compared to boy's football? I know the girls are very good and I imagine they've developed quite a following since they've been playing together for the Raiders since 7th grade. I also believe Jeff. Co needs middle school football. I think it would help with developing fundamentals early and also generate interst in the game of football amongst the students, parents, community etc...
  12. Can we please stop all the food discussion....it's making me really hungry and I'm salivating all over my desk, it ain't pretty. Tigers won't be denied Friday....they're on a mission.
  13. St.X has no players going both ways to my knowledge. Trinity may have a couple that will play on both sides of the ball, Robey and Kupper, but I don't think they are full time 2 way starters.
  14. Jeb, take it....there's no loser in that bet...best steak in town!
  15. I agree, the D line play for X this year has been outstanding.
  16. When you look at the outcome of the common opponent these two teams faced, Henry Clay, why would anyone seriously believe this would be a close game? It's fine to support your team, but don't get upset when others predict a blowout. If Boone couldn't hold Henry Clay to under 42 for a game, then Trinity should put up 28 to 35 in a half. Trinity's spread offense is mighty. They'll take what is given, short passes and screens early. Then after they've marched up and down the field methodically a couple times the defense will come up, start taking chances, then Stein's dropping bombs and the Rocks become a quick strike offense and now you're down 4 scores and it's still second quarter. Rush 3 and drop everyone back in coverage, now it's Tim Phillips time with draws, delays and counters. And we haven't even mentioned the Defense which was supposedly going to be the strength of this team according to many Rock fans preseason. Besides loyalty, which is admirable, I'm waiting for someone to cite some facts that would support this being a close game.
  17. Looking forward to a great game. If you're looking to get a bite before the game, Check's on Burnett Ave. is the place to go, but get there early.
  18. Jeb, you should give the pre-game speech to the Wave. Nothing more motivating than being the underdog and telling your team that your opponents have all these million dollar advantages that you don't need to win. Seriously, no one doubts your community's pride in its football team. I think's it's great when a community pours out its support for the home team. I understand this victory, like the one in 01, would cause an outpouring of love and support for this group of Green Wavers. But, I think you have a skewed impression that St.X is this "Family"-less monolith. We believe in Family too, ours is just a bit bigger. 98% of our players have been playing with or against each other in the CSAA flag and tackle league since third grade. Once bitter grade school rivals are now teammates. We too have loving grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles who have watched our boys play this game since they were little boys. Contrary to popular belief, not many of our fans will be coming to this game via an airplane. They'll drive over from "neighborhoods" like Hikes Point, J'town, Fern Creek, Okolona, Germantown, Camp Taylor and even a few from St. Matthews. Many will gather at local pubs like Check's, Old Hick and Tim Tam to eat, drink and talk about the game, games past, players now and players in the past. You might be surprised how similar our "families" really are. As to the outcome of this game, our uniforms, facilites and the "millions" they cost won't make a single tackle, block or first down. Our players and coaches will be well prepared, and we expect your players and coaches to be prepared as well. My prediction is X 28 Meade 7.
  19. Colt, out of curiousity...had the shoe been on the other foot tonight and you'd been beaten down in the "mountains" by Prestonsburg would you like it if the P'burg fans and players started posting things about "taking the game from the Colts and sending the city boys back home to their big city in Louisville"? Or instead, as a senior who'd just played his last football game of his life, would rather read a post from your opponents that said something like..."We beat a good DeSales team tonight. They played hard and never gave up"?
  20. I'm sure 2001 might be mentioned by Coach Glaser this week when he adresses the team and their preperation for this week. However, I don't think avenging that loss will be the theme coming into this game. The Tigers will give the same effort preparing for Meade as they did for Manual and Marshall. This team is too focused to take a W for granted.
