  1. Interesting....if you throw out the blow out votes the poll is dead even. I'm sensing a special game tonight, maybe OT.
  2. I did notice a few clusters of Rock fans on the home side. Maybe we're winning over their hearts and minds.
  3. Groups of young men from two great schools will battle tonight in front of 30,000 plus fans. Regardless of outcome, the players, parents and alumni can already take pride in the hard work and dedication these players have put in...countless hours in the weight room, running hills, practicing in brutal heat and keeping up with a tough academic curriculum. I admire the student athletes from both schools and hope for an exciting injury free game. GO Tigers!
  4. I don't think it's open to the public. But, in view of your son speaking, I'm sure you could call the office and get permission to attend.
  5. I agree. That first drive was pretty much all through the air. Ryan has been very accurate when given the oppurtunity to throw the ball downfield.
  6. Actually it was 25-6, X blocked T's extra point.
  7. Any update on Kragthorpe's injury? He and Nix showed well for the Rocks.
  8. I believe X has the better team...but three things concern me: 1. They haven't defended against a pass happy offense like Trinity yet. They must get pressure on Kragthorpe and force him to scramble. 2. Darrick Nix...I think this kid is a stud receiver the likes of which the Tigers have not seen yet. He's fast and athletic enough to jump over our coverage and make plays. This will be a challenge for our secondary. And 3. Ball security. The Tigers have had a couple games where they had fumblitis in the red zone. This can't happen today! Good luck to both teams...but GO TIGERS!!
  9. And the BGP Poll still has Trinity favored to win. Who picked for the CJ, Jody Demling? I'm really excited to see this game. I think both teams are really even. Contrasting offenses, hard hitting defenses. Fewest mistakes wins. I'm picking X for no other good reason than that's where my loyalty lies. But, I know that in order to win X cannot put the ball on the turf. If they can chew up clock with long drives and keep T's offense off the field they have a good shot.
  10. 1. Manual 2. Male 3. Ballard 4. Lex Cath 5. Oldham County
  11. Tigers have to fight and claw back to win this one in the last minute 20-19.
  12. LOL, IDK for sure...I'm assuming the QB was a Junior, they announced him as Cameron Smith. He's listed as a junior on T's web site, but not as QB, so I'm not for sure. Jordan Riley's name was also called for Trinity and he's listed as a junior.
  13. Yes, his hit on Melillo in the first half I'm quite sure was heard through the plexi glass in the press box.
  14. I don't think he was talking about the JV game yesterday. I think they were speaking of the freshmen game three years when this group of seniors were freshmen.
  15. Last I knew Trinity was 1-3 with close losses to Boyle, Lex Cath and 2 TD loss to Moeller. Extra point misses cost the Rocks against Boyle and Lex Cath. They pounded Butler. Kragthorpe and Nix seem to be a potent pass and catch combo. T also has a stud RB who has been coming off an injury. I expect he'll be healthy this Thursday. X greenies are 4-1 with an opening game loss to Moeller 28-7. Defense gave up two long passes on broken coverages and 2 big runs that made the difference. They are much improved since Moeller, cruising past Lex Cath, Oldham, Male and Manual. On offense, Jay Hayden, Devontae Beech and Lamont Mcmurray have all proved to be effective runners. Beech reminds me of a mini Jerome Bettis at about 215 Lbs. The passing game continues to improve. Ryan Leonhardt is getting most of the reps at QB and has shown a strong arm and quick feet. The receivers need to step it up, still dropping balls and not finishing routes. On defense, Jake Bickel plays strong at the mike spot. Spalding and Albanese play well at the outside LB spots. Secondary is good but gets even better if Daylen Hall can get his hamstring healthy. Throw the records out the window, this will be a street brawl. X by a PAT, 20-19
  16. I think X's front 4 will get plenty of pressure. It would be a humongous mistake for X revert back to a Split-6.
  17. Thanks for the link. Is it in the paper or just online?
  18. I couldn't find one article in this morning's CJ about high school football last night, a few box scores but not even all the significant local games. Is there a special High School Football section I'm missing?
  19. I understand Wyatt Gray is now #1 on the depth chart for place kicking and kicking. Bosscher is no longer a student at X. Very sad.
  20. #6 Jay Hayden played at Holy Trinity, attended Nativity.
  21. Wow, I will have to pay Check's a visit. Can you get a table after 6 or should I plan on getting there before?
  22. I am always excited to be at Manual Stadium, lots of memories and despite needing major improvements the place has a lot of character. As for Check's I haven't been in years, couldn't take the smoke. Maybe with the new ordinance I will check it out.
  23. LOL, I was wondering where I picked up "Dorffman".
  24. I imagine there are some lively 11 and 11's between the Varsity 1's and this group of Tiger scout teamers.
  25. "The coaching staff would probably have to be volunteer because there would be very little money in the system to pay any of them." You really think the Catholic grade school system coaches are anything but "volunteers"? I'm not aware of any grade school coaches that are paid. Middle school football does exist in many public schools in Kentucky outside of Jefferson County. These largely rural communities are not rolling in dough. It can be done. It would take some leadership, work, fundraising etc..but it's being done. Somebody grabbed the bull by the horns in Jefferson County and started a middle school baseball program for the first time in forever.
