  1. Thanks for the info, I look forward to watching Ulinski and hope to see him in a UL uni next year. I had heard he played center on the O line and couldn't believe that given his size at 6-6, 280. Center is a very important spot, but usually not reserved for guys of that size in high school, or even college for that matter. My assumption is that Manual's tackles and guards must be outstanding.
  2. Back to the game....how good is Manual's Ullinski's? I've heard great things about him. Where does he play on the O and D lines?
  3. Well said BirdieCat...we've all grumbled over our team's play calls and schemes from time to time. But Coach Glaser usually does a great job of not criticizing his player's effort. I remember when X missed an extra point against T in OT in the 83 playoffs to lose a heartbreaker. Glaser's quote in the paper wasn't about lack of execution, focus, etc...it was, "kickers don't lose games".
  4. Unfortunately, if I read an earlier post about the AP Poll correctly, St.X was voted #1 over Trinity 12 votes to 6. As if the Rocks needed additional motivation.
  5. Centre, that was the game I saw. It was dramatic, wasn't a young Nick Petrino the QB, Dorffman big play WR? The Rocks came back and made plays, it wasn't as if Manual handed them the game. But, I distinctly recall wondering, as did several Rock supporters, why Manual kept throwing the ball with a 2 score lead with about 4 mins. left in the game. I remember something controversial about Nichols comments after the game, but I don't remember the specifics.
  6. To start with, how can you claim to be "impartial" towards the Manual coaches when you admit you played and graduated there? (I know, typo..) My sense as an X fan, is not that Manual's coaches didn't work hard or care about their players on and off the field but that they, maybe just one coach, have made critical strategic mistakes in big games against the likes of X and Trinity. I don't recall all the specifics now, but I do recall a fairly recent game against Trinity in which they had a 2 score lead late in the second half, deep into the 4th quarter, and on a couple possessions took virtually no time off the clock by calling several pass plays that resulted in incompletes. Trinity escaped with a win by scoring 2 late TD's. Manual had effectively run the ball, it wasn't as if they to throw the ball in order to have any chance to get a first down. That's one recent example I recall. I'm sure others will chime in.
  7. Yes, I was talking freshmen. I think Trinity has lost 2 really close games to Boyle County and Lex Cath, a loss by a couple TD's to an outstanding Moeller freshmen team and defeated Butler easily. I believe Trinity's freshman would probably be undefeated in Kentucky were it not for problems in making extra points against Boyle and Lex Cath. The Rocks may also have been hampered by some key injuries. Trust me, I know the Rocks freshmen will give us everything we want and then some when we play. But at this point in the season, Manual's freshmen are undefeated (I heard). I don't know who they've played other than John Hardin. I saw the second half of that game, looked like they had good size and skill, execution not great but that's to be expected for a first game and a lot of kids playing new positions.
  8. Yeah, like you guys really need the extra motivation!
  9. Just as unbelievable is Trinity dropping to #2 after giving the #1 team in the Nation a scare. I'm an X fan, proud to have the ranking, but in this instance I think T deserves it until X proves otherwise the next couple weeks.
  10. Anyone have a score and/or summary of the Tigers/Crimson JV game? Freshmen game is Thursday at X, this could prove to be the Tigers toughest in-state opponent of the year(No offense intended Rock fans, just looking at results thus far).
  11. I'm not sure I can, within the rules of BGP, get into the specifics. #1, they are now probably our biggest district rival for playoff seeding purposes. #'s2-10, let's just say there is no love lost between the programs over players choosing one school over the other.
  12. 7--ST.X 5--North Bullitt 3-- E'Town 2--Jeffesontown 1--Meade TB ST.X
  13. Manual is "improved", hype or fact? Makes no matter, Coach Glaser wants this victory, for a multitude of reasons, as much or maybe more than any game on the schedule. No way X looks past this game to the next week. I look for the Tigers to play with a lot of fire at their old home.
  14. I predict X in a close game. Manual's O Line will prove to be more effective than what X saw from Male. Manual will move the ball. QB Harness can move around the pocket and has the arm strength to throw it deep it some talented receivers. For X, I like James Carpenter playing the Mike spot. He defends the run very well and is a force when he blitzes the middle. I think he and the front 4 need to put relentless pressure on Harness to force him to either run it or make a bad throw. On offense, I think X can continue doing what it does best....run the football inside, run it outside, run it outside some more and occasionally drop a long pass to a crossing Ben Brown or streaking Kevin Brinkman. It would be nice if a few of our other speedsters would step up and start making some big catches. X 28 Manual 21
  15. Geez... "Brady Brohm"....He sounds good already
  16. You can pull the classy transistor radio in the pocket with an earpiece....Spears and company will keep you well informed.
  17. Let's save this for about 7 days....:argue:
  18. I feel your pain...I actually have a local, Catholic, in-law relative who scheduled her wedding for the evening of Sept.28. Her wedding may cause my divorce...I'll be at the Pizza Palace!
  19. 7 Lou. St.X 5 Cincy St.X 3 South Oldham 2 John Hardin 1 Meade TB Cinci St.X
  20. Just making a general comment about good QB coaches in town...or are you suggesting one or both of our fine young QB's should have chosen a different school?
  21. Are the Rocks still struggling with their kicking game? I'm assuming from the 25 points they scored 4 TD's and only converted 1 PAT?
  22. I was somewhat surprised to Mr. O Brohm there as well. Is he still coaching at Trinity? I would have thought he would have been over at Trinity getting young Kragthorpe ready for Lex. Cath (I've heard Lex Cath won 28-25). I'm going with Darth Vader....something sinister was afoot.
  23. Leonhardt is an impressive young QB....the offense just put in a couple shotgun formation plays and I think he will be even more impressive from the gun as the season progresses. The drops were bad, besides the one in the end zone there were a couple others that were catchable balls, slightly high, but went through the receivers hands. On another, the receiver seemed to slow down on a long pass and had he kept running he would have caught it in stride for a TD. Antonio Jackson has made some nice catch and runs, seems to be our most consistent receiver. I wonder though if maybe one or two of our RB's might better help the team playing some receiver to give us another deep threat.
