  1. The Trinity radio guys were reporting the game was at Meade. Wishful thinking?
  2. This will be a blowout. Trinity 56 Boone County 14
  3. Thanks....If it's Trent Kelly he's a junior.
  4. Wasn't that the game Holy Cross was leading very late in the game and decided to go for it on 4th down around midfield instead of punt? They were stopped and Danville then scored a TD with a few seconds left to take home the hardware.
  5. http://wwwagwx.ca.uky.edu/cgi-bin/wxlist_int2?CityName=Mayfield&Begin_Month=Nov&Begin_Day=16&Begin_Year=1995&End_Month=Nov&End_Day=24&End_Year=1995&Preference=1&View_Save=View&Mailid= This claim of wetting the field amused me, so I researched it. According to the KHSAA bracket the game was played on November 24, 1995. According to the records kept by UK Climate Data Center Mayfield received .60 inches of rain the day before the game, November 23, 1995. Paducah received .30 inches of rain. I'd bet Draffenville received half-inch or so of rain as well. So, sorry Westsider, I don't believe the Marshalls turned on the sprinklers on ya:jump:
  6. I would say HC might have trouble getting the ball to Boyd, especially if Weitlauf and Whiting have the QB on his back or scrambling for his life. I don't see the Rocks allowing Boyd to take over this game. Trinity wins this 42-14.
  7. Wow...this Lou. St.X fan is very impressed with this win for the Birds.
  8. Though would have much preferred to play at home, looking forward to going to Marshall County and supporting the Tigers. This will be a good game. The folks down there are very hospitable, but the Marshall County Marshalls will not go silently into the night.
  9. X played outstanding on both sides of the ball. Zoeller looked sharper than ever throwing the ball. The receiving corps of Sweeney, Brinkman, Simmons and Brown also put forth their best effort of the year. The Defense was an Iron Curtain tonight. I thought the D line play was outstanding with Brutcher and Jones making big sacks, Smith and Carpenter shutting down the run inside and out. The pursuit and pass coverage from the linebackers and secondary was tenacious. Great job Tigers! The score could been have more lopsided had the Tigers been able to convert 3 or 4 times in the red zone, instead settling for a couple of field goals and getting denied on 4th down another. I honestly thought this would go down to the wire. Manual should be proud of a great season.
  10. That's impressive. Now I understand why there are no disciplinary issues at Manual.
  11. 02, I'm aware Manual beasts academically. If X and T are chasing Manual, they may be, would you say it's a close race or are we getting lapped? On discipline, I have no idea. I only know X's discipline policy. But to say you're 180, what does that mean? If X is at the extreme of discipline then 180 would be the other extreme, no discipline at all.
  12. KYTM, you touched on an important disticntion between Jefferson County and the rest of the state. There is no public school football in Metro Louisville until high school. There are optimist programs, many of which are very good. The good ones fill very quickly and have waiting lists. Some carry 40 plus players, kids that don't play lose interest. I don't think the 8 or 9 good optimist programs is enough to sustain the 20 plus public high schools. On the other hand, the 20 plus catholic grade school football teams sustsain the 4 catholic high schools very well. For whatever reason, the participation rates for catholic grade/middle schoolers in football is much greater than that of their public school brothers.
  13. I agree. X and T both have a lot kids with CSAA football experience who choose to pay tuition instead of opting for free public school education. I think if you want to distribute the talent, level the playing field so to speak, the public schools need to have more schools like Male and Manual. As of right now, Male is at capacity and not an option any for catholic grade school graduates. Not sure about Manual's capacity. It's not a coincidence that the two schools closest to X and T in terms of academics and discipline are also the two pubic schools in Jefferson County closest to X and T on the playing field. This is just football mind you. There are lots of public school programs that kick our tails in baketball and baseball every year. We just don't recruit well in those two sports.
  14. I anticipate a hard fought game from both sides. Both teams have improved. X has lost a key component in Duece. As an X fan I'm predicting a win, because...well, I'm an X fan. The vast majority of Ram fans are predicting a Ram victory, as they should. Those X fans who are predicting something of a blowout, I respecufully disagree. I don't think this one will be decided until the final series when X either scores or makes a stop. See ya at the game!
  15. You're right Ram, those stats suggest an inherent private advantage in football. And, its not fair for the Butler and Seneca's of the world to have to play X and T. Maybe once every 50 years will those schools be cabable of beating the Tigers and Rocks. But think about this hypothetical: Xavieran Bros. sell Saint X high school and all of its assets on Poplar Level Rd. to the Jeffferson County Public School System--the school is now called Tiger Ultra Traditional. All former teachers, administrators, and coaches are retained--many receive state merit pay raises. This will represent Jefferson County's first experiment with an ALL BOYS high school since the 1950's. The focus of the school will be on educating young men of all backgrounds under a rigid system of discipline and academics. Dress code stays the same, dress pants and tie every day. Service to the community, 40 hours, is required to graduate. If successful, they plan on purchasing Assumption or Sacred Heart for girls. Religious education is eliminated. Tuition is free. There are no feeder middle schools designated. Enrollment is open to all boys in Jefferson County. You must take a 1/2 day entrance exam to become accepted. This is needed in order to place the student in the appropriate academic program. Enrollment is limited to 500 new students per year. If more than 500 apply, first come first serve. If 501 applications arrive the same day, one is randomly drawn out and placed on a waiting list. Question: Do you think Butler and Seneca and whoever will fare any better against Tiger Ultra Traditional?
  16. I have no reason to think this game will be any closer than the first matchup. If anything, Trinity is starting to peak and the margin could be wider.
