Anyone know what Whitley Co and W-burg schedules are?

I would like to know what schdule changes have been made by the teams from the mountains. Are their schedules tougher or easier or about the same. I just found out today what McCreary centrals 2009 schedule is and I think it is probably the toughest schedule they have ever had. That being said, it isn't even close to the toughest in the state and I am in no way saying that it is I just think it is a tribute to the groth of the Raiders program. Wanting to play and not be the guy on the sidelines ihas nothing to do with being selfish, it has everything to do with human nature! No one goes plays a sport and says I hope I am always 2nd string. Most programs have a system of evolution, you play scout team for a couple of years and then you either start or you are a back-up player and get some quality minutes. The problem with schools like Trinity and X is there are so many players (who are talented) that a kid who might start at TB at a regular school and even be a top rusher in the state may only be a career scout team player at Trinity or X. For someone to say they would rather go to a school where they would play on Fridays is quite natural. I also see nothing wrong with someone wanting to be a part of a program like Trinity or X and being totally satisfied in a scout team role and being willing to do what ever is necessary for the success of the program. Don't back down from your earlier statments SSF. I still think you are right on when you said McCreary will be the team to beat this year. Way to many athletes and one loss early in the year dosen't mean a lot, just ask the Gators! I think there were some questionable calls that went the home teams way or the score would have been reversed and MC would have won. Also, I think Wayne Co played to the best of their ability and I think McCreary had a meadeocore game at best (at least that is the way I saw the game). Bottom line is Jones needs to take this loss and make sure the players learn from it and keep building towards tourny time and make sure they peak at the right time. Everyone says the region is wide-open and if that is the case it will come down to coaching in the end and who ever does the best job of coaching will lead their team to a regional title. I think everyone can agree on that. I am going to break a Mccreary Co tradition and show some support for our program. Contrary to popular belief I have never met Rob Jones in person and my only opinion of him is from what I have heard of him or of what someone has said he has done or said. With that being said I will say Coach Jones will quiet his nay sayers and out coach everyone in the region this year and the regional trophy will find a resting place at Mccreary Central High School. Dang! Sounds like the Lady Raiders have improved some. I have heard that several of their top players aren't playing this year and some of their players are still out because of injuries, can someone shed some light on this? Good luck with the season Lady Raiders!

Hey SSF, when does McCreary's regular season start? Who and where do they play?

They looked very good without the football players who play B-ball including Watts and Roark. Make no mistake, these two kids will definately be a dominate force and then you add the point gaurd Wright into the mix and they will give everyone fits. So, trust me when I say this team will be a dominate force in the 12th region this year!.

I don't personally know Jones and my statements are not personal but reality is reality. These players arn't just good they are way better than that. It sounds like you are one of those Jones followers we here about in Mccreary Co. Do you get his newspaper for him in the morning as well?:ylsuper:

With just 24 hrs in a day can a head coach who is also an A.D. do both jobs to their fullest extent or do both things suffer because there is a lack of time? What does everyone think about this? I think that there is not enough time in the day for one person to do both of these jobs correctly and when they can't do either or both jobs correctly then the only ones who suffer is the kids. Also, it is human nature to take care of yourself and a coach as an A.D. will, by nature, take care of his/her program before they do the other programs and again this causes kids to suffer. I think a county's A.D. should be someone who is ready to get out of the coaching part of athletics but still has a desire to help the schools athletic programs (I mean all programs) reach their highest level of success! He definately won't be ran out of the school system he was born and raised there. But, I think there would be a strong push to replace him as B-ball coach and leave him with just the A.D. duties which is how it should be anyway. I have talked to a lot of people in Mccreary county as well as people in other counties that have head coaches as athletic directors and everyone I talked to seems to think the A.D. should not be a coach. The concensus is an A.D. who is a coach will be partial to the sport he/she is coaching (this is almost always the case and definately the case in McCreary co.) also, the lack of time the dual role has to do both correctly. lets face it, most head coaches barely have enough time to get done what they need to get done as a coach and I am fairly sure that the A.D. position is highly demanding on time as well. I have got to go with some of these other guys for now SSF. The last two yeas McCreary has had the talent to get out of the district heck they have had the talent to win the region but it didn't materialize....1 and done 2 years in a row dosen't give anyone much leverage to think this year will be any different. I truely hope this year is different, I would love to see the Raiders win district and region, I know they have the talent just like they have had the last two years. So, I guess it all comes down to coaching, can the coaching staff prepare this group of great athletes to perform come tourny time? They can go undefeated during the regular season and get beat the first game of the district tourny and the season is still a failure. With the talent McCreary has it has to be on the coaches shoulders if they don't make it to Rupp this year any thing less than an trip to the sweet 16 is unacceptable! Heck, I heard the new gym will knock your eyes out it is so beautiful. I would have to say there is a ton of pressure on Rob Jones to make it out of the district and region and take his team to the sweet 16, if he doesn't with all the hype surrounding this team he should be replaced with someone who can get the job done. That's the way it happens everywhere else and our kids deserve the equal right to have a coach that can get it done! With all that said, I am not hateing on Coach Jones at all, I truely hope they kick-butt this year and make it all the way to the dance! Go Raiders!

I just wanted to take this time to thank the Mccreary Central Raiders football players and coaches for their hard work and dedication this season. Through all the injuries and dissappointments you guys just kept working hard and have stayed focused. I have been to several practices and you all worked as hard if not harder this week as you have all year and it shows. No matter what happens tonight I am proud of you guys and so is the rest of the Raider Nation. Go gett'em tonight boys! :ylsuper: I hope everyone else uses this thread to share a word of praise to his or her team (players and coaches) all of these young men who have played and those who have coached them deserve a word of thanks!

McCreary won't even look like itself Friday night because Watts and Roark will still be gone with the Football team and they will be McCreary's B-ball studs this year!:ylsuper:

I am not 100% for sure but I think his name was Hyden and if my memory serves me correctly it was almost the exact same circumstances. By the way, the last I heard was the KHSAA ruled that Morrow was ineligible and would have to sit out a year. Has anyone heard of any further appeals?

I am sure the Burg will give a great effort but LCA's depth and W-burgs lack of depth will be the difference in the game. Gongrats to LCA on a good win:ylsuper:

Not saying much, 4A is not exactly stacked with power house teams. Top to bottom, it may be our weakest class. I'm not saying we don't have good teams in 4A. We have some very good teams, just not as many as the other classes for some reason. Take this game for example, Boyd County, a 4A district champ got all they wanted from Fairview, a 1A 3rd place district finish. That's my point, classifictions mean nothing but how many students attend your school. So people just need to stop saying "this 1-a team gave this 4-A team all they wanted" just say "this team gave that team all they wanted". Good games come from teams that are equally matched talent wise, no matter what classification they are.

Why does everyone get caught up in classifications? If I took the top 15 players from Trinity, Saint X, Bole or Bell Co and put them on Fairviews team wouldn't they still be able to beat almost anyone in the state? People, what matters is the talent you have in the school and then how much of that talent you can get to play the game and then how well the coaching staff can bring it all together. The clasifications only tells how many kids you get to choose from which gives them a little advantage! I would say Beechwood a 1-A school could probably beat 90% of the 4-A schools in KY so how does the classifications matter that much?:ylsuper:

I hope everyone gets healthy. I would like to see a full stregthed Raider team in the 1st round of the playoffs! If everyone gets back I think the Raiders will be in the 2nd round of the playoffs for the 1st time ever! Go Raiders!:ylsuper:

I can remember a game at KC last year with 10 min to go in the 4th and the score being 12-6 in KC's favor and then a ref (who we were told was from KC) started making some horrible calls and even cursed our players and this just took our kids out of the game mentally. Over a 3 min period KC scored 3 times. I don't remember you talking about how bad that officiating was. Bottom line is that our players should have stayed focused on football and that is what KC should have done Thurs. night. Bad refs and bad calls are part of the game because humans aren't perfect. Blamming the refs won't help your team win those types of games, teaching them to suck it up and play even harder is what will get them through those types of games with a win!:ylsuper:
