McCreary is still very young, and Watts and Roark are the only ones that played any varsity last season.

Yeah, but not prohibitive. The 12th Region has several teams that might be capable of winning the region, just because none of them are unbeatable.

 

I would put Wayne, McCreary, Lincoln and West Jessamine (in no particular order) at the top of the list. The second part of the list would include Mercer County (maybe in the upper list soon), East Jessamine, Garrard County, Boyle County, Rockcastle County and maybe some others.

 

Bottom line, it's too early to tell.

This just shows the region does not have one dominant team this year. You could throw 6 to 8 teams in the hat for the top dog in the region this year.

Sounds like Woods won another coaching battle with Raider Rob Jones. What was the tempo of this game? Wayne tried to run with Lincoln and I think Lincoln was the better running team and I think thats what got Wayne in trouble there.

I don't think we have a number one team in the region right now(Dec.). We have several teams that could stake claim as number two.

If we had to pick a team number one right now it would have to be Lincoln Co. because of consistency and coaching. And, oh by the way they have won the region the last two years and until someone can knock them off when it counts (region), you have to put them at the top.

Wayne Co is also a very young team they are starting 4 sophomores and 1 senior. They still make some mistakes but they are getting better and seam to learning from their mistakes.

Don't back down from your earlier statments SSF. I still think you are right on when you said McCreary will be the team to beat this year. Way to many athletes and one loss early in the year dosen't mean a lot, just ask the Gators! I think there were some questionable calls that went the home teams way or the score would have been reversed and MC would have won. Also, I think Wayne Co played to the best of their ability and I think McCreary had a meadeocore game at best (at least that is the way I saw the game). Bottom line is Jones needs to take this loss and make sure the players learn from it and keep building towards tourny time and make sure they peak at the right time. Everyone says the region is wide-open and if that is the case it will come down to coaching in the end and who ever does the best job of coaching will lead their team to a regional title. I think everyone can agree on that. I am going to break a Mccreary Co tradition and show some support for our program. Contrary to popular belief I have never met Rob Jones in person and my only opinion of him is from what I have heard of him or of what someone has said he has done or said. With that being said I will say Coach Jones will quiet his nay sayers and out coach everyone in the region this year and the regional trophy will find a resting place at Mccreary Central High School.
