Yeah, but not prohibitive. The 12th Region has several teams that might be capable of winning the region, just because none of them are unbeatable.

 

I would put Wayne, McCreary, Lincoln and West Jessamine (in no particular order) at the top of the list. The second part of the list would include Mercer County (maybe in the upper list soon), East Jessamine, Garrard County, Boyle County, Rockcastle County and maybe some others.

 

Bottom line, it's too early to tell.

Mercer lost to McCreary at McCreary in double OT, beat Wayne, lost to East Jessamine and lost to the 8th region's best team (Anderson Co.) by 3 points. According to your rankings they should definately be in the top bracket along with East Jessamine.

This region is really weak IMO. Sad but true.

Don't back down from your earlier statments SSF. I still think you are right on when you said McCreary will be the team to beat this year. Way to many athletes and one loss early in the year dosen't mean a lot, just ask the Gators! I think there were some questionable calls that went the home teams way or the score would have been reversed and MC would have won. Also, I think Wayne Co played to the best of their ability and I think McCreary had a meadeocore game at best (at least that is the way I saw the game). Bottom line is Jones needs to take this loss and make sure the players learn from it and keep building towards tourny time and make sure they peak at the right time. Everyone says the region is wide-open and if that is the case it will come down to coaching in the end and who ever does the best job of coaching will lead their team to a regional title. I think everyone can agree on that. I am going to break a Mccreary Co tradition and show some support for our program. Contrary to popular belief I have never met Rob Jones in person and my only opinion of him is from what I have heard of him or of what someone has said he has done or said. With that being said I will say Coach Jones will quiet his nay sayers and out coach everyone in the region this year and the regional trophy will find a resting place at Mccreary Central High School. Kudos Bronco!!! I thought the unforced turnovers was what beat the Raiders. The charge call under the basket with around 1 min to go should have been a "And 1" or no call. I'll trade a regular season loss for a post season win!

The Raiders only fell behind after the press was called off. When they clawed thier way back into it they were pressing. This has happaned in all 3 of thier close games, an early lead than the press would be called off. IMO press all night long raiders, your just so long and linky. Good game on Wayne Countys part.

That's kind of the point that I was trying to make. IMO, at least 6 teams (East and West Jess, Lincoln, Mercer, McCreary, Wayne) have a legit shot at winning the region. LC has defeated Wayne (easily), East Jess, and West Jess. by 17 pts. I would have to say have three of the more impressive wins so far. They do have a loss to Russell (who is undefeated).

 

LC was regarded as the number one team in the region, in some publications-not that it matters. I agree the region is wide open this year. McCreary was my preseason pick to win it, because of Watts. So far, the best team I have seen in the region, aside fom LC is East Jess. I still think McCreary will be the team to beat at the end of the year, Watts is just that good. I think LC, McCreary, East, West, Wayne and Mercer (in no perticular order) are the best teams in the region.

 

This will be an interesting year in the 12th region. This score really surprises me. LC easily handled Wayne County. I thought McCreary Counties guard play would be too much for them. I do find it humorous that people won't say LC is atop of the 12th, at this time. They have two of the best wins, within the region, and are the two-time defending champ. In my book, you are the champ until someone takes it from you.

Mercer seems like a very dangerous team. I would say that is the toughest distrtict in the region this year.

I have yet to see Lincoln this year but I would have to put them at the top because of the past 2 years. However, because of their close victory over East Jess and Mercer's close loss to East Jess, I would say that Lincoln's advantage is small over all the other contenders.

Lincoln has some solid wins in the region, and returns a lot of their roster. They lost three important players. But they still have one of the best players in the region, and three other kids who played a lot last year. Not to mention a great coach who knows how to get it done.

 

The UF ananalogy isn't very good. Uf lost it's entire starting lineup....

 

I think the region is wide open and McCreary will be a factor.

LC's full court defense gave Wayne Co. a lot of trouble.
