  1. East Carter, Spring Valley (WVa), Fairview and Bath seem to be the class of the camp in that order. I heard SV nipped East by two so actually those two are pretty even. West Carter is winning some games. Lewis, Greenup, Boyd, Raceland, and Russell seem to be competitive in their games so far. The sleeper of the region may just be the young Royals of Rose Hill.
  2. Any reports from this summer league?
  3. Any reports from this usually large four day camp?
  4. People in Somerset will like Don Daniel. He did an outstanding job at Rowan County and is well liked among the coaching community. Best wishes to him.
  5. I heard that as well.
  6. Any results? Observations?
  7. Mr. Johnny WHOLEstaff
  8. Bane and Kidwell both deserve the accolades. They had some intense battles in their coaching days at Tollesboro and Lewis County. The two still remain good friends in their retirement years.
  9. Russell now has two region wins and is 2 for 2 on opponents coach getting ejected.
  10. A state record 36 straight scoreless innings by Tyler Hieneman.
  11. They have been rolling all year long with a 32-6 record.
  12. Top bracket is now a crap shoot.
  13. Congrats to the Devils and Coach Martino and his staff.
  14. It's really amazing....reading many, many posts as to just how jealous some people are of Coach Humphrey and would give anything to see them get a new coach. Unreal. Somebody should jump out from behind the computer screen and go directly to Humphrey and voice their concerns about his position, his coaching, his whatever....but...NO, that won't happen. Maybe ask him about his basketball philosophy, what good has he done at GRC, what has he done for the kids that play for him, and how many has he swayed in the right directions in life. He has impacted more kids positively at GRC than any board member and = to many administrative people. His personality is top notch, he is a high profile Kentucky high school coach whom kids WANT to play for be developed by. He has already proved himself. Why don't someone just go ask him about this whole ordeal? I guess it's much easier to speak with assumptions on this board.
  15. Morgan Co. mentioned in a better geographic fit for the 15th? Nope....will not happen. Although Morgan Co. actually boarders Lawrence Co. in the northeast corner....it takes 1:25 minutes by bus to get there...not a good district logistic. Morgan Co. isn't moving anywhere.
  16. I'm pretty sure it was bobbyearl, East Carter is a very well coached team and they are as good as anyone in the region. It is clear that Greenup is the heavy favorite, but East Carter is right behind them at this point. Congrats on the championship and a great season.
  17. The four interviews are being conducted today. No one has been interviewed yet.
  18. Boyd or Lewis Lions?
  19. Interviews are set for Tuesday the 20th.
  20. Humphrey will be the coach at Clark next season. Write it down.
  21. Interviews been scheduled yet?
  22. Waterboy is right. What I don't understand is that school board members are pretty powerless and should be by law, powerless to make sole personnel issues without the consent of the entire board, especially. For some odd reason, "some" board members across our state think they have power, when they really don't have anything. But when their is NO support from within or support from the Super, then you have this mess. Superintendent here needs to step up to the plate and stop the public relations bleeding that he is encountering, all thanks to one person. Only in America! 1 person is the majority rule? This is a prime example.
  23. The lady board member holds a grudge and thinks she has the best interest of Clark County, all the while, Clark Co. isn't good enough for her kids. I think, I may be wrong, but her kids attended Lexington Catholic instead of Clark County. This board member should be ousted in the next election...or perhaps removed for other reasons immediately. This is absurd.
  24. By law the principal does the hiring and firing of coaches at a high school.
  25. For the record and what it's worth. If a CERTIFIED Russell employee applies for the job, they will be given the job over the CLASSIFIED employee, including those that have substituted, etc. A sub is not a certified employee. Many coaching positions that are awarded to non-certified staff are VOLUNTEER and are not paid for the coaching duties by the school. However, there are para-professional positions that are paid granted the person meets the coaching level criteria mandated by the KHSAA and the local board policy. For example, I think a level II coach is one who has at least 64 college credits, a level I coach is a certified teacher. blah blah. You actually can hire whoever you want, BUT, in about 99% of most school districts, there is a policy made by the board to ackowledge certified employees over non-certified people for these jobs.
