Maybe this will make you re-think... 12-0 against all the top teams in region 1.22 ERA 70 SO .395 BA 45 RBI's *led the region in doubles *only struck out 2x all year

I made this following observation in another thread 2 days ago..."Does Myerhoff and staff get the most with less than any other coaching staff in the region? Not to say that there isn't some talent at Beeechwood, because there is, but they don't get the top or deep talent pool like some of the larger schools in the region to work with.

I believe everyone on here knows how I feel about the choice... Maile is no doubt a terrific player and has had a unbelievable career, but this year it was Isler who was the hands down POY. My point is that if you remove Isler from this team you lose the shut down dominant pitching, plus his way better than average hitting performance, plus his top notch play at 1st base, so CovCath would have had no where near the record they had this year. If you remove Maile you lose one of the top hitters in the state and as well as catcher. The difference is the pitching part...you can't replace Isler! Isler was the top player in two positions in the region this year, pitcher and 1st, and one of the top hitters and that= POY.

I like it also...but they would definitely have to shorten the regular season by at least 5+ games or by the first week of May, otherwise they would be playing well into the start of summer. That surely wouldn't make many of the summer travel teams very happy.:eek:

Talk about a picture perfect situation for CovCath...they could not have dreamed about a better draw. Along with being a great team you have to sometimes you have to get the all the right breaks during a season.

I am hearing that the coaches are requesting the kids to wear the plastic or rubber type cleat.

So would I SS...:thumb: But anything can happen and usually does in the regional tournament.

Maile's numbers I believe are just as strong, it is just that Isler has been better overall this year...2009.

Final.. Behind a real nice pitching performance by Kyle Donovan Ryle wins the 33rd District Championship. Ryle gets to Samad early who comes out of the game with what seems like a arm issue. They then play the type of baseball that has guided them in winning 10 of their last 12 games, and both of those losses were by 1 run. Excellent pitching, solid defense, and some timely hitting has been their M.O. and they did it tonight to pull out the victory. Donovan kept Conner's big hitters off balance for the whole game and Cody Meier again comes up big with a 3-3 performance in route to being named District Tournament MVP. Off to the regional tournament at CWF.:clap:

CovCath has had a tremendous year and looking back it has been a few years in the making.

I posted Isler's stats in another thread and they are ridiculous... The POY goes to the best all around player for this year, not a whole high school career, and Isler is either at the top or near the top in every pitching and hitting category. Maile has been great his whole career and very good this year, but this year Isler has meant more to CovCath than Maile.
