Montgomery goes to 5-0 and 2-0 in the 40th District. Ty Combs gets his first start of the year and goes the distance with a 4 hit shutout. Cody Curtis had the play of game in the bottom 7th. Bourbon got a lead off walk and then the next batter hits a lazy fly ball to center, Curtis makes a diving catch and pops up throws a bullet to first for a double play. Next batter grounds back to pitcher, game over. MC 4 R 2 H 0 E. BC pitcher did a nice job keeping the Indian’s batters guessing and cooling off the Indians hot bats. If BC plays errorless baseball, this game goes into extra innings. BC 0 R 4 H 5 E. So far, I like what I’m seeing from this years MC team. MC didn’t have their A game at the plate, but managed a district win with really solid pitching and defense. Keep it going Indians and good luck to Bourbon the rest of the year.

Madison Southern jumped out to 1 nothing on a lead off double then FC to score their run in the top of the 1st. Montgomery came back in the bottom of the 1st to score, I think, 8 runs. Taylor Potter would give up one more hit the rest of the game while recording 6K’s and 2BB. Haven’t got all the details from plate appearances, but a Tribe of Indians had multiple hits. Also, Josh Weaver and Jesse Watkins (both Soph.) got their 1st varsity starts and both turned in solid performances. Madison Southern is a class program and will improve as the season goes on.

I wasn't at the game, but was told Evan Bennett pitched for GRC. If so, I would say he's GRC's #1.

Justin Martin (Jr.1st varsity start) looked very good for 4 innings, walked the first two batters to start the 5th inning and his work for this game was complete. When he gets use to throwing more innings he'll be fine. I thought Tim Anderson (a soph.and first varsity experience) came in and did a nice job closing Paris out in the last innings. Good experience for both these players. They will be needed down the road. Middle relief was not so good last night, struggled with control, it’s still early in the season though. Paris looked to a very young team and if that’s the case will only get better. Good luck to Paris the rest of the year.

Chad Ginter started and threw 5 innings for the win. Justin Martin threw the 6th and 7th to close Mason Co. out. Mason out hit Montgomery 12 to 10, but Montgomery seem to get the key hits when runners where in scoring position and Mason did not. Mason stranded 10 runners, Montgomery 8. Highlights for Montgomery at the plate: Chad Ginter went 3 for 3 with a solo HR. Matt Eversole 3 run HR. Seth Razor had a double and RBI. Taylor Potter 3 singles and an RBI. Tim Anderson single and an RBI.

Tyler went to Morehead and has transfered to the University of the Cumberlands. Drew is at Morehead, was named to Freshman all OVC team last year. Would have liked to seen that team under Coach Combs......

I would say a little of both. It's still to early to tell about Montgomery, this was their first game.

I'll also add that Kevin Tegtmeier had 2 singles and 4RBI. Ty Combs 2 singles and 1RBI. Lee co. only had 2 hits

Bennett and Barker were the only two that didn't play against Montgomery this past summer, Baily did. Montgomery was also without 2 kids that played a lot varsity ball in the spring. Scores from this past summer games MC 12 GRC 3. Second game (MC didn't play the kids that played 1st game) MC 1 GRC 1 only played 5 innings. Just saying, I like Montgomery's chances a lot better this year against GRC than I did last year. Should be some good games against these two in the 40th.

Wasn't intending that at all. Point I was trying to make was they went 1st class with their surface on their baseball field as well. Sorry if it came across that way. Montgomery's overall campus is 1st class.... :thumb:
