Montgomery just keeps winning they play Scott Co. then Morgan before their showdown with GRC, it should be an exciting time for MC baseball.

Ty Combs gets his first start of the year and goes the distance with a 4 hit shutout.

 

Cody Curtis had the play of game in the bottom 7th. Bourbon got a lead off walk and then the next batter hits a lazy fly ball to center, Curtis makes a diving catch and pops up throws a bullet to first for a double play. Next batter grounds back to pitcher, game over.

BC pitcher did a nice job keeping the Indian’s batters guessing and cooling off the Indians hot bats. If BC plays errorless baseball, this game goes into extra innings.

So far, I like what I’m seeing from this years MC team. MC didn’t have their A game at the plate, but managed a district win with really solid pitching and defense.

Coach Combs will build a state power-house at Montgomery in the next few years. He is one of the top coaches in the state. To do what he did in Lee County with 300 students is amazing. He now has close to 1000 to work with.

I agree that Coach Combs is an excellent coach, but state power may be pushing it a bit far. I don't know if the talent pool in MC is very high in the coming years and the competitiion in the 10th is a little stronger than that in the 14th (or 13th, whatever region Lee Co. is in).
