Mason jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Indians came back with 2 of their own in the top half of the 3rd. The Royals couldn't push anything across in the bottom of the 3rd. Then in the fourth with one out, the number five or six hitter for the Indians, hit a solo shot to left center. Then with 2 runners on, in the same inning, the number three hitter, number 24, hit a three run shot over the left field fence making the score 6-2 Indians. The Royals would get runners on, but could never put together a string of hits to overcome the deficit. Coach Murph would pull stater Ryne King after 4 innings of work. He would bring in So. Keegan Burney, who threw a solid two innings aloowing zero runs. Mason would score 1 in each of the fifth and sixth innings, and after Coach Murph brought in another So. pithcer Lee Sutton, who would allow 3 runs in the top half of the seventh. All in all, a very good game. Mason would threaten at times, but could never put together a big ralley.

Chad Ginter started and threw 5 innings for the win. Justin Martin threw the

6th and 7th to close Mason Co. out.

 

Mason out hit Montgomery 12 to 10, but Montgomery seem to get the key hits when runners where in scoring position and Mason did not.

I don't know about Mason Co. but Montgomery is looking like they might make some noise in the 10th. They have a solid team with three senior starters and a few solid juniors.

I doubt they will make a run to the state tourny, but could. The 10th region has some pretty good teams. Mason is a solid club and needs to make routine plays if they want to be considered. The big question for this team is pitching. Ryne King threw 4 innings last night and had a good outing until the 4 run 4th. Brace threw a solid game against Nicholas. Threw all 7 innings and I don't think he had one K. He let his defense work for him. They could be sleeper in the 10th this year, and could shock someone, once the pitching staff get some innings under their belts.

They looked pretty good last night. Hitters 1-9 made solid contact all game. They look like they a very fundamentally sound ball team.

With Coach Combs at the helm and the talent pool at Montgomery Co. you can almost bet they will be in the mix in the 10th for quite some time now.
