Nothing against those two personally but they are just outside of that list that I made up. I base coaches on how well they prepare their team before a game happens or in game decisions that make a big difference. I can't say that I've seen those two do as well with that part of coaching as does the others. Again that's just one persons opinion!

Nothing against Bracken Co. but Paris and Brossart have too much experience in big time games. Bracken Co. has struggled this year if you compare teams and schedules and Paris and Brossart have shown that they can play with some bigger time programs. Of course you never say never in sports but if one was betting your good money would have to go with Paris or Brossart!:thumb:

In no certain order but here are the ones I really like: Mac Whitaker- Harrison Co. (Always Prepared) Terrence Brooks- Paris (Disciplined) Tony Sosby- Bourbon Co. (Well Prepared) Janie Robinson- Montgomery Co. (Teacher and Manager of players) Ray Kues- Silver Grove (Strategist) Camey Geiman- Bishop Brossart (Motivator) That's my top six and in no certain order, they all have unique challenges in my opinion with their programs. Another I would've put on the list is former St. Patrick Coach- Jerry Ormes

Wow, 20 players on an all tournament team? I don't understand that, 10 is a good number and you should just try to pick the most outstanding players and take into account the teams performance during the tournament. Nothing against those selected but I think you have to come up with a more arbitruary way of selecting a team and not make it so gawdy. I know it's a huge tournament but I think the accomplishments are watered down when you have that many folks. Just my opinion, for what it's worth so I hope it doesn't offend.:argue:

Here are today's matchups: Winners Bracket Shelby Co. Vs Montgomery Co. Boone Co. Vs E-Town Consolation Bracket Rowan Co. Vs Lafayette N. Laurel Vs Johnson Central Pretty interesting semi-final matchups here. Shelby Co. played well against Rowan Co. who had been really hot coming into tournament. Montgomery Co. struggled against a very tough Lafayette. Boone Co. and E-town were able to handle their first round opponents rather easily but that was yesterday. The Rowan Co. vs Lafayette game should be a good one today.:jump:

I haven't seen Miss Reid play but I have heard she is the real deal from people that have seen her. Good Choice from what I know. Thanks for your input.:walk:

This should make for a good topic: If you were to build a team with the current senior players in the state, who would you pick first to build your team around? Since I've asked the question I might as well give my first pick. I've liked her game ever since I first saw her, she's tough, has size, strength and athleticism is a great competitor and can play all over the floor, my first pick would be Natalie Novosel from Lex. Catholic. Let's make this a fun thread and not down any young ladies. I'm not a Catholic fan but I appreciate great players but if you have a great player on a great team and she is a senior, by all means put your vote in for her and tell us why you would pick her first for your All-Star team. I look forward to reading your responses.:flame:

I got my hands on the bracket for this tournament being held at Montgomery Co.'s campus through Saturday. It starts today and here are the matchups, only 8 teams but Wow! 2pm Shelby Co. vs Rowan Co. 4pm Lafayette vs Montgomery Co. 6pm Boone Co. vs N. Laurel 8pm Elizabethtown vs Johnson Central These games are being played in conjuction with an 8 team Boys division as well. Montgomery has 2 really nice facilities on campus. I believe the admission is $7 for a day pass or $15 for a 3 day pass. These should be some really good first round matchups.:ylsuper:

I bet both Dunbar and Lex. Cath. would both tell you they don't want to face Montgomery again later on, even though Catholic will have to in the regular season. Montgomery Co. players continue to get better it seems. Did anyone see big, 6'3" Jehlik dominate inside along with solid play from Colliver, 6'0". You have to expect when you play at the opponents home court it will be hard but those two teams on a neutral court and Catholic may be in trouble. Novosel and Green have to do too much and depth will get them eventually in the Region. Coach Hans did a great job last night of treading water and buying time when he could but how often is that very limited bench going to be able to do that for him? I've seen Montgomery play a handful of times this year and they continue to show me something new, different and exciting each time. :fire:

I think the biggest contributor in Mason Co. not making the big splash is their schedule the last few years. If you notice in the region, you see Paris and Montgomery Co. have prided themselves on not watering down their schedules, thus they are always hard outs because they are used to that level of competition. Because of they don't go out and play the better teams consistently it's hard for them to turn it off and on. If you look at the likes of Paris, Montgomery Co., and even Clark Co. to some degree this year you see who they are playing and compare it to what Mason Co. has done in years past and you see why they continue to stumble. You have to make your schedule challenging, not over challenging but enough to give yourself a chance to be successful when it matters. Conditioning can be a factor especially because of Chambers asthma condition but their schedule hasn't helped them in years past or present. It's a part of the culture at Paris and Montgomery Co. and their younger players have adapted to that expectation. Montgomery Co. lost four seniors last year and look like they've gotten better because the younger players understood the challenges before them because of the scheduling.

I would agree with that Mclegend. FT's and playing to hold on to the lead probably cost Montgomery Co. against Dunbar. I also agree with your assessment about these two being legitimate State Title contenders. LCA and Catholic both will have a tough time keeping them from the Sweet 16 but that is a brutal region. I'll most certainly be watching though as we get into February and March.:flame:

Wow, I love the topic of discussion. We all know that basketball can be a lot about matchups and taking advantage of them. Montgomery Co. shares the ball really well and attacks at virtually all 5 spots on the floor, I don't know that any of the other teams in the region at this point in time can say that. Kayla Webb and Izzy Prewitt have been solid at the 3 and 4 spots and as long as they keep that type of play up, it will be hard for other teams to match up with the Lady Indians. Katie Thompson has delivered on the perimeter with big 3's and they are the biggest team in the region 1-5 and Paris saw that tonight without their big girl Forsythe in the middle. They should lead in rebounding all year and that usually translates in more shots thus spelling a lot of success. They may be as diverse of a team as we've seen in the 10th Region in some time with the ability to run or to play half court and beat you at both. I don't envy coaches that have to prepare to play them because of it. I agree Coach Brooks is an excellent coach, his track record shows that and GRC has to hope that they get solid PG play and Mason Co. has to hope 3 can win them the region but they will miss Torrey Chambers big time on the interior. Just my thoughts, don't get bent out of shape if you don't like my thoughts but this Montgomery Co. team is pretty darn good but don't crown them champions in December, because as we have seen before anything can happen. :banana:

No disrespect to the defending champs in LCA, but I may have seen the two best teams in the state play each other tonight at Bryan Station in Dunbar and Mont. Co. Dunbar won 51-50 in OT. M.C. led by as many as 14 or so but didn't make free throws that ended up costing them the game. Dunbar took the lead late in OT and held on as M.C. couldn't get a good last look at the basket. IMO, until Mason Co. plays the types of teams that M.C. has played this year with the same type of success, it may even be premature to put Mason Co. in the same class as Mont. Co. It will be hard for anyone in the Region to matchup with Mont. Co. at each position. They have the most complimentary parts of any team in the Region and that is not even a debate. You can argue who is the best overall player between Chambers and Prewitt but you can't compare the two teams at this time until Mason Co. posts a quality win. Mont. Co. is 2-1 against 3 legit top 20 teams in the state and led each one convincingly at some point in the ballgame. That's all I'm gonna say about that but in order to be consider the best you have to play and compete with the best, Clark and Paris have done a better job of proving that at this point in the season then has Mason. I wouldn't be surprised if someone put Clark down as their number 2 team in the region, they just have to learn how to win the big one.

Troy Lee and Merle Kidwell are two excellent choices if they are looking to give an opportunity to some excellent high school coaches in the state with ties across the Bluegrass, however, no one has mention a guy with a lot of high school success in the state and that spent last year putting some pep into the Transy program and that is Greg Todd. That will be interesting to see what MSU might do and if Coach Todd is interested. He may be waiting on to see what Coach Inman may do at EKU also. Just another name to throw out there. I don't know anything about the situation at MSU but I would love to see them establish something there like what we've seen across the state with the other women's programs.

I don't any of the other players on this team personally but I do want to say this about the one I do know. Courtney Danis is not only an excellent player and competitor but she is the finest young lady that you will ever meet. It doesn't surprise me one bit that she made this team and it won't surprise me that she will make this team better just by her mere presence on it! Courtney has made an impression on the Montgomery Co. program and the community that won't soon be forgotten. Courtney if you read this know that you are loved by many and appreciated by all. Represent Montgomery Co., the 10th Region and your State well this summer and continued success in both your academic and athletic careers.:jump:

WOW! This is absolutely the biggest shock for me personally! Class, Class, Class! That all I can say! I hope the folks that made this decision read this post and read it well. It was Jerry Ormes that gave respectability to the private schools in KY after all that we've seen in years past. He never complained about being a school that comprised of 70 kids. Not 70 girls folks that's 70 kids total! You tell me another with those types of resources that has had the success that he has had. Ask any coach in the 10th Region that has had to play his teams and they will tell you what they think of what he has been able to do with so little. You may think success only comes in wins vs loses but you will see as you become victim to what so many other private schools have become victim too and thats winning on the floor instead of winning in life. I hope Coach Ormes falls back on his feet and continues to coach. I hope for it to be in the 10th Region but if not I wish him the best of luck wherever that may be. If he does get a chance to coach again I hope he gets an opportunity to play St. Pat just to show the parents or whomever had a hand in this mistake what a mistake it was. I could go on and on about this but I will refrain from saying anything else and let the proof be in the pudding. Good Luck coach and I wish you the best trully. :ylsuper:

That could be the case but I'm not sure, maybe someone that knows the answer to that can chime in to clarify that for us. That still being the case why wouldn't you interview just to make sure you were getting the best candidate? It will leave open the discussion, I'm sure, if things don't live up to the expectations of a program that is expected to compete for if not win the 10th Region next season. They are not rebuilding at Montgomery Co. they reloading!

If they weren't going to interview for the position why did they even open it up for applicants? That's the question I would pose! It's almost like the NFL's policy of interviewing minorities just for the sake of interviewing minorities even when they have no intentions on hiring them!:thumb:

It was refreshing to see both the Herald-Leader and the Courier get it right with the All state teams. It showed that Maggie Prewitt was a top 3 player in the Region. That is something that has just stuck in my crawl every since I saw the results that the 10th Region had out there a month ago. Anyone that seen this young lady play over the last few years could not deny her that recognition, that was an insult to her. The fact she wasn't on the Sweet 16 all tournament team was a laugh as well but it's great to finally see her get some recognition for her efforts on the ballcourt. There are a lot of great players that can't win ball games, this young lady is great and can win ballgames, I'm glad the 10th Region will have one more year to see her play and maybe, just maybe in her senior year she will get recognized by all the coaches she gives nightmares to on a nightly basis!:sleep:

Jehlik could be the X factor for that team. If her and Colliver continue to get better could you imagine having both of them on the floor at the same time? Wow! By the way she is from California I believe! I know everyone in the Region will be watching to see how everything goes on the reservation this summer!
