  1. I would agree with some of those observations but I also think that the Webb girl is more athletic than Danis and the younger Prewitt proved to be a defensive gem during the season and was huge in the Sweet 16. Will next years team be the same? No! But I do like some of the pieces filling in for what was lost but Coach Robinson will have to find out what will work best. From what I understand she ran the offense for the team the past couple of years while Coach High took care of the defense! Thanks for answering the post! I like to hear good arguements on hear and not just people spouting their own uneducated views. It's obivious you've seen the team and understand what they like to do!
  2. Please elaborate Crimedoc! I'm not agreeing or disagreeing just playing the Devils Advocate! I think a lot of the people in the Region and around the state were looking at this job and who might get the job to see how it would affect next seasons expectations!
  3. How does the decision at Montgomery Co. today affect the 10th Region outlook for next year?
  4. One of the best basketball IQ's I've seen on the high school, great competitor, and just a classy individual. Top notch student-athlete and in that order because she definitely knows that academics will carry her further and has let that dictate her decisions and not basketball, too many do it in reverse order!
  5. Montgomery Co. may have an opportunity to be better next year than even this year. They have the potential of being bigger along the frontline and in some respects more athletic. They could potentially start a 6'0" and a 6'1" with a 5'10" or 5'11" at the 3 spot. I don't think anyone in the 10th could match that type of line up with Prewitt and Lee leading the charge from the perimeter, not to mention the younger Prewitt who played huge at times during the season and in the state tournament! Montgomery Co. may not be as deep as this past season but but maybe more complete than any other team in the 10th next season. Clark Co. will be good but must temper the older Rogers sister. She is extremely talented but has a tendency to get too emotional to the point it takes away from her game. Bourbon Co. will be much improved but must learn to handle the ball better. Paris will be Paris, quick, physical and tenacious. :argue:
  6. I would agree with you Lil' Devil Dad about Queen; had this been a true all tournament team, Queen would deserve that honor too! Her team had a lot of liabilities and Pike Co. Cent. exposed them but it shouldn't detract from her performance. I've seen her play since she was an 8th grader and that was probably the best performance of hers that I had seen especially in the first half! And for those asking abour Maggie; no Prewitt doesn't need hardware to verify if she is an excellent player or not she just goes out and proves it every game!:fight:
  7. That was my point exactly! Coaches shouldn't be given a certain amount of players to nominate. It should be selected by an impartial group of people and they should select the team based on performance in the tourney. Those having more games will no doubt have an advantage for the simple fact they will have more opportunity but it shouldn't be predetermined how many a team could have just based on whether they win or not an all tournament team should be based on those with the best performances. Nothing against the two I mention on the previous post but they didn't have a better performance than Maggie Prewitt. In fact I thought T.J. Thomas was an excellent guard even before the state tournament, one of the best playmakers I've seen in the last two years but her performance didn't out shine that of Maggie Prewitt and they both played just two games in Bowling Green. Don't take my comment as a knock at those two players I just thought that both Maggie Prewitt and Claire Mitchell both had better performances than those two in particular and the question that would've been asked, if you put those two on who would you take off that is all I'm saying. Congrats to all that did make it and it was an honor to have watched them play I just think that they get it wrong all the time selecting all tournament teams because they want to be too politically correct sometimes.
  8. And that in itself is a bunch of bull. I get tired of this you only can a certain amount of players on an all tourney team. Maggie Prewitt scored somewhere around 40pts in two games at the tourney and did it against the states best. Nothing against Mic'a Prince or T.J. Thomas but she had a better tourney than both of those girls and they both won one game. Maggie Prewitt got snubbed last year and again this year, I just don't understand. I heard several people at Diddle Arena after the championship game question how she was on the team along with Claire Mitchell from LCA!
  9. Bricklayer, it's just hard to change peoples minds when they only see the small picture. Prewitt has been nothing but huge in the big games since she was a freshman! There is no sense in making an arguement on here with some people, it insults our basketball intelligence when they do this! Once again, nothing against any of the other players on the 1st team, but how many big games have they been in for one and how have they performed when they have been in them? When you pose that question you eliminate two off of the 1st team right off the bat because they haven't played that in those types of games. Prewitt is a 1st team all region player regardless of where she plays college ball and what kind of success that she has at that level! I'm not going to argue projections, I'm only going to state the obvious whether the coaches of the 10th Region recognize that or not. That is not meant as a slap in the face to the coaches at all it's just stating that they made a huge oversight on this one! Everyone deserves a Mulligan and the coaches sure need one on this one! :creepy:
  10. Montgomery beat Henderson Co. (neutral site), Barren Co. (neutral site), Lost to NDA (at Montgomery), lost to Breathitt Co. (at Breathitt), so Montgomery Co. is 2-2 vs the field of participants I believe!:thumb:
  11. This may have been the best week of girls basketball in recent memory. L.C. vs Scott Co., L.C. vs LCA (Twice), LCA vs Henry Clay, Montgomery Co. vs Mason Co. (What a game and atomosphere), Rose Hill vs Russell. This was an unbelieveable week for girls basketball in the state and if you weren't at Montgomery Co. last night you missed an instant classic. When I hear the final numbers I'll try to relay them to everyone as far as the attendance for that game. Didn't you get a sense you were watching Duke and KY all over again? Wow!:fight:
  12. Maybe the best opening round matchups ever in the Sweet 16. This is going to be one highly competitive tourney this year. Yes, LCA won the toughest region this year, but there are some awfully good teams out there in this tourney and whomever wins it will definitely will have earned it!:ylsuper:
  13. I couldn't agree with you more MCPAPA, Prewitt just gets it done and that is why I was so surprised to not see her not selected by the coaches as a 1st teamer. That was definitely one they got wrong. They used to give Doug Flutie a hard time about not being the prototypical NFL QB, but all he did was win. That is what Prewitt does and does it in so many ways for the Lady Indians. Big props to L. Cline, she really showed me something tonight. D. Chambers was D. Chambers as usual, but what about the big Soph. B. Colliver? Did she play huge or what? Both teams will reload and be the top two contenders in the region next year! Great crowd tonight and I'm sure it will be a record crowd for a 10th Region Girls final and maybe any girls regional final.:flame:
  14. It wouldn't be a shame if they won, if they win they certainly would deserve it! If they don't win it may be because they look out of shape. It's just an observation. You don't tug on your shorts at the 4 minute mark of the 1st qtr. like I've seen Mason Co. do a few times this year already. That could be why they shot a poor percentage in last nights game. Fatigue can cause a team to do things poorly something they might not have done if they were in better shape!:walk:
  15. Turnovers and shot selection are key in this ballgame! Mason Co. can't afford to allow Montgomery Co. to have extra possessions like they did with Brossart last night! Too many bad shots or mistakes with the ball will allow Montgomery Co. to get out and running and with what I've seen out of Mason Co. and their conditioning they don't want that to happen. I can't think of the last time I've seen such a great team look out of shape this late in the season. I know D. Chambers suffers from asthma but what are the other girls excuse? :walk:
  16. There have been some really nice crowds at the games especially tonight for the semi-finals. It is good seeing some support for the girls game in the region. :dancingpa
  17. These two have had some classic matchups over the past few seasons and this one could potentially be the same! I just hope that Mason Co. still has something left in the tank. The emotion of their two games might be too much to overcome especially if they get down early to Montgomery Co. It will be interesting to see what happens, I'll be watching, will you?:ylsuper:
  18. I too thought Brossart played a smart game up until the final 2 minutes. Why are you shooting 3's with the lead when you only made one all night and Henke and Butsch were having their way on the inside? Basketball I.Q. was low late in the game for Brossart in my opinion!
  19. Mason Co. has looked bad out of shape! I know D. Chambers has asthma but they were all gasping for air at the 4 minute mark tonight in a game that wasn't fast paced. Using 6 players won't get it tomorrow for Mason Co. if Montgomery Co. is on their game. Mason Co. has some awful good talent but boy do they looked winded. If anyone was there tonight and Tuesday night you could see the fatigue both nights!:walk:
  20. Big Ups, to Crimedoc! You said it best with so few words! I don't know if the others are hating they just haven't seen her play enough or at all! Prewitt will be talked about amongst the greats in the 10th when her career is over just as D. Chambers and probably Danis. Nothing against the other 3 on the 1st team but I don't think that will be the case for them. Casey Geiman was an excellent competitor at Brossart during her career and was probably 1st team all region her senior or junior year but she won't be one of the greats. When you talk about the greats you will mention Dinkins, Vice, King, W. Lee, C. Whitaker, N. Whitaker, M. Gray, Beth Wilkerson, Schweggman and on and on and Prewitt could very possibly be on that list by the end of her career with all she has accomplished as an individual and with her team. I just think personally the coaches dropped the ball in recognizing that by her not being on the 1st is all I'm saying. Whether she is or isn't a legitimate big time D1 player or not she is 1st team all 10th Region and no one will convince me otherwise because I've seen virtually them all in the Region and she is a top 3 player in the region. Rock on Maggie, keep doing your thing! :ylsuper:
  21. She may or may not be a D1 player, that's not for me to decide, that will be up to the D1 coaches! I'm just telling you what I'm hearing! People have been discussing that very point when it comes to her. No, she isn't Rebecca Gray or Keyla Snowden but if Jenny Pfiffer can play at UK and could get a shot then definitely Prewitt can! I think you all are under estimating the ability of D1 coaches and their ability to recruit based upon needs for their team and how they develop players. There were D1 Coaches that thought Chris Lofton couldn't get his own shot or that he was just a jump shooter, I guess there were some D1 coaches that were proven wrong about that too! The only point I've been trying to make and will stand by is that Prewitt is a top 5 player in this region no matter what the coaches voted, in fact I bet if we could see the voting results I bet every coach that had to coach against Prewitt had her on their top 5 list. As for the comment about next year for Prewitt playing without this years seniors, Montgomery could very well be a better team next year with the replacements. They will be bigger and in some instances more athletic with Colliver (6'0"), Webb (5'10") and Jehlik(6'1") to go along with Lee and the younger Prewitt (5'10") and M. Prewitt, the beat very well could continue to go own in Mt. Sterling for many more years. That collection of girls alone have been playing together for years and have had great success at the AAU level competing nationally and being coached by the Prewitt's mom who was a college coach at Centre and took that school to a national tourney. :ylsuper:
  22. She is shooting the 3 much better as of late during the most recent run by her team! She has been complete here lately! That is what makes her so dangerous!:fire:
  23. I agree with the gap between the best and the rest in the 10th Region especially the strenth of the 40th District compared to the rest. The four schools in the 40th will benefit from the quality of the teams in the district for several years to come. Montgomery, Clark, Paris and Bourbon will all be better next year. Mason and Harrison will be good outside of the 40th but the rest will have some catching up to do with graduation affecting some and others just don't have the talent like those 6 schools have and will have over the next few years.:fight:
  24. Montgomery is being shorted because Prewitt is a 1st teamer and that isn't even an arguement! I think it's funny is all! I think Montgomery only played 7 regular season games in region this year because frankly there wasn't enough competition. They played the 4 best teams in the region, Mason, Paris, Clark and Bourbon Co. and against those teams they are 8-1 and they played Mason at Mason without Senior starter Natasha Thomas who is critical to their defense. Not saying that Mason couldn't have beat Montgomery anyways but it is something to consider in that matchup. My point being is that a lot of the coaches voting have not seen Montgomery play this year and that could've figured in to the voting but I'm telling you if Maggie Prewitt is not a top 5 player in this region then our region is loaded with a lot of Division 1 talent. I myself have wonder if she could play D1 but from what I understand she is getting some attention from big D1 schools. Now other than D. Chambers is there anyone else on this list that make that claim? I don't even believe Danis is getting that type of attention and she may be the most important player on the Montgomery Co. team. I'll just keep quit on this topic because it's obvious that it won't change the minds of some, especially those that haven't seen this young lady play the last 3 years, more importantly this year against the best teams in the state. This team has played Boone Co, Sacred Heart, Ohio Co., Christian Academy of Louisville, Mercy, Breathitt Co., Henderson Co. to name a few and she may have been the best player on the floor in each of those games when you look at her stat line both offensively and defensively. Now I challenge anyone to make a case for anyone else on this list a reason why Maggie Prewitt isn't a top 5 player in this region if she has done this against the best teams in the state? Nothing against Norton and Turley because I too think they are good players but they haven't played the competition Prewitt has to make a legitmate comparison. I hate that I'm having to make a claim for this young lady and making it sound as if others are not deserving but I've seen all of these young ladies play this year and if I had to start a team with the players from the 10th Region I'm going to look heavily at D. Chambers, C. Danis and Prewitt before making that decision and no one else. Those 3 are that much better than the rest in my opinion, although the Rogers sisters put on a show tonight in the 2nd half. Also LLBC, I know the all tourney team hasn't been chosen but I know every team gets a player on the team and there are only 15 players chosen and it is predisposed as to how many each team gets on the all tourney team based upon how far they go in the tournament. If you saw the Brossart/Nicholas Co. game tonight you would get my point about why it's unfair. Someone for Nicholas Co. is going to get on the team for showing up because they didn't play well at all and Brossart didn't play that much better but have a chance to redeem themselves on Friday! '
  25. I don't agree at all with the thought of not being able to vote for players because of who they are surrounded by that is ridiculous. Yes, does Danis create opportunities for Prewitt and probably is the most valuable player for Montgomery because she gives them a lot of consistent post play but to say it's hard to vote for more than one player on a dominate team is ridiculous. I hate this voting for players on teams for the sake of recognizing players. Take for example the naming of the 10th region all tournament team. Every team gets at least one player on the all tournament team, what is that all about? So if a team that makes it to the finals but loses and they have 4 players that have an outstanding tournament they can only get 3 players on the team, while a team that loses in the 1st round who may have a player that is the leading scorer for their team with 6 pts. can be on the all tournament team. Is that fair? Heck no! We are too much in a politically correct society. The all tournament team isn't a club, you should earn your way on and not just be given a spot by default. As for the comment about coaches scouting players to be best prepared to come up with a game plan to beat the opposition explains why only two teams from the 10th region have beaten Montgomery in the last two years, probably because they haven't paid much attention to Prewitt. We are talking about the Regional tournament player of the tournament two years ago as a Freshman and a potential all stater and doesn't even make the region all tournament team and has scored nearly 1,500 pts in her career already. I don't get it. I understand, like I said in my initial post, it's subjective and it's all a matter of opinion but it's hard to dispute the statistical facts with Prewitt. Of the 5 first teamers, only D. Chambers and C. Danis are unanimous in my opinion but it's only my opinion.
