jahearme Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Janie Robinson has been named the Head Coach of the Montgomery County Lady Indians. Coach Robinson is a long-time assistant at MC and is very well liked in the community. Best of luck to Janie in the years to come at Montgomery County!
crimedoc Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I hate to be a nay sayer but Montgomery County High School just short changed their students by a long shot. I'll play the devil's advocate on this one but I just think that they missed this one. Janie is well-liked in the community and that makes for good public relations but doesnt make it easy to hang banners.
crimedoc Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Here are your two options: Mike Kindred- Hall of fame coach, 4 state tournament appearances, 1998 state runner up, handful of division 1 players, KY/OH all star game coach, University of Alabama Assistant coach.... Janie Robinson-Bath County Head Coach, Montgomery co. asst coach, Mcnabb Middle School coach...."Give her a chance" That is what I have heard the supporters say. Earn your stripes, that is what I say.
U Reach I Teach Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 This really surprises me. What happened to Whitney Lee? I talked to her during the season and she told me she thought she had a chance at this position. Did she apply?

I'm 99.9% sure she did not apply.
U Reach I Teach Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 oh ok.. I only talked to her once and she mentioned possibly being a head coach.. She brings a lot of positives to a coaching staff
crimedoc Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Whitney Lee does bring many positives to the program. I think that she will help improve Montgomery's interior game which was a little young this year but should be tough next year.

jahearme Posted April 13, 2007 Author Posted April 13, 2007 Are you saying Coach Kindred applied and got turned down? Yes.
crimedoc Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Exactly lbbc. Never got an interview. How about them apples. I was just telling another BGP; This has to be the best girl's position available after the 2006-2007 season in the whole state and only two people applied and not the first interview was held. I think this all went down under the shade tree if you know what I am saying.

Sign -sealed and delivered
PRESSROW Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I wonder how long Coach Kindred would have committed to the program had he been named head coach. He is a Hall of Fame coach, but like every program experiences, in a couple years, I believe Montgomery will be a in a rebuilding stage, and with that being said maybe that was looked at closely and they decided to go with someone that has coached at both the junior high and high school ranks that will know the kids coming up. I am not near the situation, wondering like everyone else how a Hall of Fame coach didn't get an interview after only himself and the new head coach were the only ones to apply.
U Reach I Teach Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Good Question --- how does a HOF coach not get an interview?
Give&G083 Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 If they weren't going to interview for the position why did they even open it up for applicants? That's the question I would pose! It's almost like the NFL's policy of interviewing minorities just for the sake of interviewing minorities even when they have no intentions on hiring them!:thumb:
