I also wanted to add that the size of Rowan Counties crowd doesn't provide for much of a home court advantage. I realize that MSU is in the middle of Morehead, but they probably practice there maybe 2-3 times before the regional tournament so they aren't much more familiar with the court then any of the other teams in the region. MSU is the best possible place for the 16th Region Tournament to be held, hands down.

I don't see how Greenup Co. can be considered to host the regional tournament. I believe when I was there for districts this year, I seen a sign that said capacity was 4100. Although there wasn't 4100 people at the first round games, I think we can expect that plus more for the Elliott Co./Rose Hill match-up.

I didn't get to see the game when these 2 teams met in All A, so I'm basing all of my observations from their performance Thursday night. Although both teams won by a sizable margin, I thought Elliott Co. looked like the much better team. They take good care and force turnovers out of their press. I think Rose Hill will be able to handle the press much better then Greenup Co. did. However, if Euton doesn't make more then 1 shot from the field I think Rose Hill will really struggle. I think Jackson is the best player on the team and will be hard for Elliott to match up with. If he can make 10-15 footers like he was able to the other night, he is difficult to keep under 20 points. I like Elliott Co. in this game, hoping that it will be able to be played Tuesday. Expect a close one either way, but I'm saying Elliott by 7 and then taking the 16th Region Championship. (But worry about this game first)

I dont believe so. I think I read somewhere that these two teams played each other a couple of years ago in a holiday tournament. I dont know the outcome, but it has no effect on this game. I dont think Euton will be able to stop Pettit down low, but Pettit will be no match for Euton 20+ feet from the basket. Rose Hill wins this game by 15 and begins preparing quickly for the semis.

Just found the answer. Never mind. Wish him well in whatever he decides to do. Would love to see him go to Duke though. The could use some more PTP'ers BABY!

I'm sorry but I'm unfamiliar with Mr. Hood and the 2nd Region. He sounds like the real deal, but whats his first name and who does he play for?

I like East Carter in this game. I think both teams have probably 8 players or so who are good athletes and can give the coaches good minutes. This game might just come down to who has the ball at the end of the game. I think both teams do so many things well that it will be hard to pinpoint an advantage for either team. Why I picked East? Just for the fact that I think they are slightly better 1-5.

The matchup in this game of Clemmons for Bath and Thomas for Ashland will probably be the best matchup of the whole tournament. Both players are very good offensively as well as play good defense. I say Ashland is playing better ball because they lost something like 11 games in a row at one point and within the last week, they have beaten Fairview as well as coming back on Rose Hill and making it a very close game.

I will be the first one to veer off the road and take Ashland in this one. Bath Co. was 1 of only 2 16th Region teams that I didnt get to see play this year so I'm only going off what I have heard. Although Ashland lost there last game, they have been playing better ball as of lately and will pull of I guess somewhat of an upset.

As stated in another thread, I would like for this one to stick to these two teams. I think this will also be one a very good first round game. I just wanting everyones thoughts on what each team must do to come away with the victory.:thumb:

I know there are 16th Region threads, but all they ever talk about is Elliot Co. or Rose Hill. I wanting everyones thoughts on just this game. I think it will be a very good first round match-up and I'm curious what everyone else thinks. Please, stick to these two teams and what both must do to defeat each other. :thumb:

Come regional tourney time, there isnt to many teams that sail to the finals. Although the bottom bracket features the top 2 teams, the upper bracket contains teams 3-6. The upper bracket will produce some really good games to watch as well, including both first round games. If the upper bracket doesnt beat up on each other and play each other into overtime games each night, I think any of the teams have a chance of playing in the finals and possibly making it to Rupp. Let the madness begin BABY!!! :dancingpa:dancingpa

I would also have to agree with Tyler Clark. He was very fun to watch and had the ability to take over just about any game. Although he didnt play much beyond high school, he was very capable of doing it. He nearly took the Lions to the regional finals by himself. He played in probably one of the best double-overtime semi-final games ever his senior year. Very good player.:ylsuper:

I really look forward to the first round match-up of Raceland/East. I know about 2 weeks ago Raceland beat East by nearly 20 but I think both teams a pretty evenly matched and could lead to a very entertaining finish.

I really admired the way Raceland played last night. Throughout most of the game, Raceland looked like they were playing against a mediocre J.V. team. Greenup has faced a lot of problems this year, and I give them props for being able to make it out of districts after those problems. And I have to agree with a previous post, the young official seemed to call a foul everytime Sparks was in the area of the ball.

What time does this game start?

I was thinking about starting a thread about this but I will just add it on to this one. Which team might be the biggest sleeper team this year? Im not talking about Elliott Co. or Rose Hill, but who do you think has the best chance to upset one of these teams and represent the 16th?

MSU campus is the best I can give you. Anytime I've been in Weatherby it has been very hot and that was with no crowd. Have they put a new air conditioning unit in within the last couple of years?

Greenup Co.'s on a high realizing they've made it to regionals after the season they've had. Greenup will keep it close early in the game, but Racelands defense and free throw shooting will stretch the lead in the second half. Raceland 64 - Greenup Co. 49

I thought both teams played good team ball. I thought the officiating was good for the most part. The difference was Raceland made their free throws were as Lewis Co. didnt. Not sure on any numbers, but it didnt seem like many free throws were taken. Best of luck to the Rams in the district final and the regional tourney. And to my Lewis Co. boys. You gave a great effort and played very hard but just didnt take care of the ball late in the game. The 8 seniors (well, one was out half the season but remained on the team) will be missed and we want to wish them the best of luck. You were entertaining to watch in your 4 years and have many good memories to take with you.

Played some pickup ball at a church with Jassey ---not trying to overblow his atheletism but think very very few in the 16th have had this kids type of hops. To me dunking is one of the most overated plays in hoops but this young man was a super dunker. Off 2 feet, off 1 foot , two feet jump stop from the dotted line , he could just soar. He also seemed to have a good handle of the rock, and a good understanding of how to play . He looked D-1 to me.

No assist numbers for either team, but I counted 5 good passes Darius made within the first half when a defender helped over on in the paint and the receiver of the pass blew an open layup. Very uncommon of these boys to miss layups like this. First time I got to see Mack play, and was very impressed. Much quicker and stronger then I anticipated. Would love to see a re-match to see who wins a best of 3 series.
