1 was a player, Z Gillum ---he signed with EKU I believe but is not on their current roster and the other was the transfer student who never suited up at GC but attended school there. Seaul or something like that --Did he sign with UMASS or anywhere else ? thanks

I think you are referring to Saihou Jassey... No clue about where he went to college.

Saihou signed to play with Bradley University. Do not know his status on the team this year.

Jassey is no longer with Bradley, but plays for DII Southern Illinois at Edwardsville.

Did anyone ever see him play before coming to Greenup? Was he pretty good?

I heard from numerous coaches that summer that he would be one of the top players in the 16th, never scene him myself.

Also, that's great for Zack Gilliam is working on a medical degree.

Played some pickup ball at a church with Jassey ---not trying to overblow his atheletism but think very very few in the 16th have had this kids type of hops. To me dunking is one of the most overated plays in hoops but this young man was a super dunker. Off 2 feet, off 1 foot , two feet jump stop from the dotted line , he could just soar. He also seemed to have a good handle of the rock, and a good understanding of how to play . He looked D-1 to me.

Would have been nice to see him in green black and gold, but it always seems like we can't get transfers eligable. I have never understood how we lose so many kids to Raceland and other schools just for sports reasons and they seem to be eligable right away, but when we get transfers it is always red tape after red tape. Maybe they no something in Ramland that the Muskies dont.

I know you are not saying Raceland does anything against the rules. If you are I would like to hear about it. It is not for just sports reasons check your academics out compared to Raceland or Russell.

This is not a forum about academics, and you can't honestly tell me that these sophomores and juniors that transfer for thier last year or last few years are doing so for a great education. I'm not saying Raceland does anything against the rules. I have just noticed that everytime GC gets a transfer there is a problem. Crockett Reed, Gillum bros., Jassey, Zack Smith, Mayhan, just to name a few in the past few years. Nothing against Raceland I just don't understand why GC seems to be the only one who runs into problems with KHSAA.

Saihou went to Greenup County for a while and then attended Rose Hill for the remainder of his senior year from what I recall. He was one of the most athletic kids I've ever seen in my life. He could stand past half court and shoot a normal jumpshot. Also, at 6'6" he could dunk the fire out of it. His only downfall was his lack of "blue collar" hard work. All his ability was natural and he never really worked to develop them like most D1 athletes do. At Bradley he spent most of his time on the injured list.

I just checked the state testing scores for GC, Raceland, and Russell, I have one question. I don't ever remember GC losing a kid to Russell, but I can name a bunch that have went to Raceland. Russell test scores are almost 10 points better in every subject, so if the kids are going for acedemic reasons why not go to Russell?
