thewalrus Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I started this to honor and/or give credit to some of the great players that have played in the 16th Region in the last 5 years or are still providing us with good entertaining High School Basketball. If everyone will put a couple players down that stood out to you them we can fill out a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd team. I will say Antonio Owens, Jonathan Vanhoose, Chad Jackson, Dakota Euton, and Jonathan Ferguson. 1st Team All 16th 2003-Present * * * * * 2nd Team All 16th 2003-Present * * * * * 3rd Team All 16th 2003-Present * * * * *
shooterx3 Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Some very good players over that time frame Here's my FAVE FIVE in no particular order and players who have graduated (and I'm probally leaving someone out) Blake Mcgowan Cam Thouraghman Jon Van Hoose Alex Barker Drew Mcdavid
thewalrus Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 You know I thought it was later than Rose Hills big years but OJ Mayo and Marques Dawson were there in 03'. So I will add them. I will say Zach Guillum too. Was the younger Zornes kid there in 03? So far we have 13: Blake Mcgowan Cam Thouraghman Jon Van Hoose Alex Barker Drew Mcdavid Antonio Owens Jonathan Vanhoose Chad Jackson Dakota Euton Jonathan Ferguson Zach Guillum OJ Mayo Marques Dawson
shooterx3 Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 OJ, Dawson , and Gillum are great choices, I don't remember what year Joe went to Ironton but I'm sticking with my picks as the "top"five person team due to the edge they got in coaching in their formative years:laugh:
CatsCatsCats Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Great list of playes so far. A Few other players should be mentioned in my opinion.... Tyler Clark- he was so underrated his whole career, could take over a game Casey Jones- average about 20 for two consecutive years and is playing pretty well at KCU Isacc Greene- one of the smartest PG's the last couple of years, didn't score as much as some of the others on this list, but was an all around tough player Faulkner twins Blandon Clemons Steven Kidd if applicable, not sure when he graduated. Furman at Rowan If I had to pick a top 5 by position I'd say G-OJ Mayo, hands down the best that has been through these parts in a long time G- Tyler Clark, not the D-1 prospect that some of these players are, but he could really take over a game F- Marques Dawson, just dominated F- Drew McDavid, he wasn't the flashiest player, but you'd look at the stat sheet and he'd have 16 points and 12 rebounds C-Blake McCowan- Most complete post player in this area since Mark Surgalski Talent/Potential wise I'd say: OJ, Marques, Chad Jackson, Antonio Owens, and Dakota Euton
$$East-Bank$$ Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Jared Fergason-Russell, just a player that comes to mind that no one has mentioned.

It is being used in a very broad way here. I should clear this up. Thread title- The Top 15 Players in the 16th 2003-Present because the only trully great player to come through has been OJ Mayo. The Faulkners are good, solid players that are fun to watch but are not Great.

lewiscoref Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I would also have to agree with Tyler Clark. He was very fun to watch and had the ability to take over just about any game. Although he didnt play much beyond high school, he was very capable of doing it. He nearly took the Lions to the regional finals by himself. He played in probably one of the best double-overtime semi-final games ever his senior year. Very good player.:ylsuper:

Titleist1 Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I'm just going to fill out a starting lineup. PG-O.J. Mayo SG-Antonio Owens SF-Marques Dawson PF-Drew McDavid C-Blake McCowan

letthebighogroot Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 When I say the top 15 I mean the best 15 players in that time spand.:thumb: Yeah, I understand that. And you have them in a 3 team format. Meaning you need 3 point gaurds. I don't think there has been 3 come through the region better than him in that time frame :thumb:
