Hill definetley was worthy of being first or at least second team.

Robbie Harris is one player who has been really good the last couple of years but flies under the radar. He is 10-0 over the last two seasons and has been on the varsity since the 8th grade. Great kid.

Bill Bradley would have been well deserving as well as Euton and Trimble. One of those three would have been more deserving. Russell was the preseason favorite for the district and regional championships and won neither so you could easily say that they underachieved. Yes, they won 27 games but did not live up to expectations and once again lost to Rose Hill in the post season. I have no family at Rose Hill, have never had any family there either. Heck, I even had a letter to the editor in the Ashland paper voicing my displeasure with Rose Hill during the OJ era. But it is obvious that for the second year in a row Pam Euton is getting left out of another award because of personal feelings that people have about that school. If not Pam Euton then Bobby Trimble, whose team won the district, or Bill Bradley who has done wonders with a very young team. Kidwell had a team that was experienced and talented but did not achieve nearly what people thought they would.

If off the court actions have anything to do with the voting then there are a few members of both the boys and girls teams that should be left off. Britt was a very important part of this team and when she was not on the floor Rose Hill struggled. I watched them play Lexington Catholic this season and the Lady Royals were in the game for much of the contest but when Britt got in foul trouble they lost their main ball handler and a big force on defense. There is no way that she did not merit inclusion on the all area team other than spite from the voters.

I agree. Anyone that is honest and puts personal feelings aside should admit that Britt was a very important part of the two state tournament teams, especially this year. She was the main ball handler and she was a defensive stopper as well. This is one of my main gripes with having teams outside of the 16th Region represented. That allows well deserving players to be left off that should have been on the team without a doubt. And for those that would leave her off of the team because they have issue with her attitude; over the years I have seen selections on both the boys and girls teams that have had less than stellar attitudes and have been suspended from school for various reasons as well.

I read about this in the paper yesterday. Cumberland is getting a great student-athlete and I look for him to do really well there.

I noticed Michael Beasley was'nt on there but was in the McDonald's All American game. I don't know why he was left off the Parade team, he was very impressive.

Those Paintsville teams were a whole different breed, that is for sure. Vanhoose and Tackett were great players and the schedule these guys played during the regular season was awesome as well, helped them get ready for the post season for sure.

Shelby Valley can compete well with anyone in the 15th but on an overall state level I would say no. Elliott will be above everyone in the 16th by far with the exception of Rose Hill but I don't think that Elliott will be a threat to win it all next year either. As several stated earlier, the Lions could get a good draw and win a game or two but I don't think that they can compete for a state title next year.

This Scott County team was outstanding but I cannot call them the best of all time. With the history of great teams in Kentucky high school history in mind I would place this team in the top ten I have seen in my lifetime. I got to see some of those great Clay County teams, Paintsville, Louisville Male and some others as well. I would be hard pressed to not have the championship team of Paul Blazer in 1961 as the all time best. They had multiple D1 players on that team including Larry Conley who went on to have a great career at UK. I know that Harold Sargent played on that team too, had an awesome career at Morehead State as well. In addition to those two I think UK had players sign with Cincinatti and maybe Army or DePaul, not positive, but they had at least 4 sign with division one schools off of that team to the best of my knowledge. They made it back to the championship game the next year with Conley leading them but lost in the finals.

Scott County should be a load to knock off of their throne.

Just cracks me up how people come up with conspiracy therories and so forth over someone getting a well deserved honor. I think Matthew is a great representative of this region and I applaude whoever voted for him. By the way, a weaker supporting cast does not make it easier to "pad" ones own stats. It makes it easier however for another coach to prepare for someone since they do not have as many weapons to worry about.

Wow, I was not aware that Matthew Daniel was the only player that defended Vanhoose that game. The coaches thought that Matthew Daniel was the most outstanding senior player in the region this year, I don't see how that is such a stretch especially considering the numbers across the board that he had in comparison to Vanhoose's and McDavid's as well. And he for sure did not have the supporting cast of either McDavid or Vanhoose. An outstanding student-athlete won this award and I am very glad that it was Matthew Daniel.:dancingpa :ylsuper: :jump: :banana:

So, the writers know more than the people directly involved in athletics? Yeah, the same writers that year in and year out give more press to some than others whether or not the production on the court is equal to the press given to them. Just look at the two players stats and there is no problem at all with Matthew Daniel winning this award instead of Vanhoose. And yes, McDavid had a great year too but once again the stats are on the side of Matthew Daniel as well.

I believe you are correct marooncat. I am not positive if it is just coaches or athletic directors that vote also but I think it is voted on a region basis only.
