Any BGP members going to the 30th Anniversary of the McDonald's All-American Game Wednesday night at Freedom Hall? The Jam Fest slam-dunk contest was unbelievable on Monday night. Blake Griffin, an Oklahoma University signee, won the contest which was judged by Bill Walton, Denny Crum, Darrell Griffith and others. The Courier-Journal said that there were still some tickets available through the Freedom Hall ticket office and Ticketmaster. What a treat for any young girl or boy basketball player to see the best highschool players in the nation like Nolan Smith (Duke), O.J. Mayo (USC), Michael Beasley (Kansas State), Chris Wright (Georgetown), Nick Callathes (Florida), Jai Lucas and Patrick Patterson, plus seventeen others. Wednesday TV Schedule: 5:30 p.m., Girls' All-American Game, ESPNU; 7 p.m. Jam Fest (taped), ESPN; and 8 p.m., Boys' All American Game, ESPN.

Who was the last Kentuckian to play in the McDonald's All American game. I'm guessing it was Rondo. But he represented Oak Hill Acadamy. Does anybody know the last Kentuckian who actually played his entire hoops career at a KY high school? Do we have to go all the way back to Alan Houston?

Maybe the allure of the dunk has escaped me since my younger years. Dunk competitions just dont do it for me anymore. I cant really complain about the NBA's competition, they can use other players and props. Nothing like seeing someone throw it down after tossing it to themselves off of one of the big jumbo screens in the arena. I wasnt impressed with the dunks in the micky d's game.
