Billy Blanton and Justin Moore did play as freshman but as stated before those were some lean years for the lions. You would have to go back to Frank Lee to find a freshman that mad an impact on a good team.

Where is this game being played?

Boyd was just as much to blame for the score as anyone. They pressed the whole game. Even when Elliott put in the subs Boyd kept pressing. Elliott is a good team that did nothing wrong the other night.

The starters work hard in practice and deserve to play more than two quarters. They need the conditioning for when they play a team that will give them a game at the end. They didnt run the score up tonight.

YOu are right it was not Owens team. Antonio was one of the most talented players to ever play in the 16th region. He often looked uncoachable. Very undisciplined player. Great individual talent but not a great teammate. Also how is it the athletic departments fault? And who is their best player that is not playing?

Boyd plays at the Middle School gym. If BC runs with Elliott look for all three digits on the scoreboard to light up. Elliott is the real deal.

Rowan County is the team to beat until someone dethrones them. Brockman, Martin, and Riddle may be the core but they have plenty of other players capable of having big nights.

Who is on the coaching staff? Anyone returning from last years staff?

Elliott is the best team in the region with East a closer second than you may think. After that there is a big drop to 3rd.

All coaches of any sport sanctioned by the KHSAA have to complete the coaches education class, problem is that the KHSAA doesn't go around checking to see who has and who has not taken the class. School administrators are supposed to govern their schools. Obviously the AD at Lawrence did not do do this. That may be part of the reason that the entire athletic program was put on probabtion.

I look for the tomcats to go down to deafeat by another class A school. 24-20

Coach Watkins will do a fine job at Rose Hill. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few of those girls back at the Hill in a year or two. The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.

Who coaches the team?

Some of your best basketball players excel at other sports. Take Amber Riddle from Rowan County. The good athletes don't focus on one sport at a time. They find time and put in the extra work that is needed to be good at two or three sports.

Ashland should be one of the favorites to win the region.
