Bert Richey. The previous coach at Grant County. Very funny. He yelled at a player to go steal the ball from another player one time...the player was a teammate! I don't know what would have happened if she had actually done it...how would you stat that?? A turnover or a steal??? :jump: He can be seen yelling some similar one-liners at Highlands games supporting the coach, his wife Jaime, from the stands. Coaches like Fookes, Doyle & Gilley. Even Richey. All have very passionate styles to their coaching...fans seem to either love 'em or hate 'em, no in between, but very fun to watch!

Simon Kenton. The margin will depend on when SK starts going to the bench and/or pulls off the pressure.

Johnson hopes to continue playing basketball. McIntosh as well, but she also may continue a track career.

Same here! Congrats to both teams on a fun game to watch! Grant County gave it everything & just came up a little short. They came back from behind & took a lead in this game in the 3rd. Just couldn't quite hang on. Girls, hold your heads high...you gave it everything you had & more! Sarah Johnson did a great job at point last night & led Grant County with 21 pts. Good luck to Sarah, Selena McIntosh & Bethany Hopperton, all seniors at Grant County, on their future endeavors.

Candace Gorby is correct TB&G. I would expect this one to be a good one! Will probably come down to the younger gals on both teams & how they respond knowing it is a win it or your done game. Confidence is everything. Going with Grant by 5.

Agreed! S/K is way too much for these teams. The WV/Grant game is going to very interesting after the confidence boosting wins Grant had this past week. They have adjusted to the loss of players & have settled into their roles & adjusted to the strengths of this team. Nice job by Guffey making those adjustments & not forcing his players to play a style they can't since the loss of those players. Confidence is up...well done!

Sounds like a great game! Good win for Carroll going into districts. Was the Walton head coach there? I thought she had been ill the last few games. Hope she is better.

Senior night in Owen County! They send them out in style, although it wasn't with a win tonight. Owen came out fast & pressured Grant County in the first & looked like they were going to win in a blow out. Grant County settled down & came back in the 2nd & took a 2pt lead into the half. Grant took a 10pt lead in the 3rd that Owen erased & then kept it close the rest of the way. Grant gains a win over a good Owen team & comes into district play gaining confidence. Should make things interesting next week!

It was Senior night at Owen County. They did a great job recognizing their Seniors. It was long (), but it was special for those kids & the Owen fans were out & on their feet cheering & thanking all those kids. Although I understand the why's & the why not's all addressed here, including why Trimble chose to not make-up the game. It still will not make up the chance for the Williamstown faithful to thank their players. I feel for the players. The thought that keeps popping into my head is that these girls from Williamstown have had what, 6 or 7 years playing varsity? Wow. I know the Williamstown faithful would have been on their feet for their Seniors! But you know what? They are on their feet every game aren't they? They thank those girls every game!

That's too bad! Maybe something can be done at districts to recognize the girls between games Tuesday. I wish them well!

I haven't tracked stats at a game, but have had my daughter stat film, including tips & touches. Tends to help when she is beating herself up about a game. I do write down scores at the half & qtr for BPG posting sometimes. When talking to parents or overhearing conversations in the stands, I have found that most that do track at games do it in order to confront someone, a coach or administration, about playing time. I know of a case that someone tracked how many times the coach said "good job" when keeping individual stats from the stands.

Welcome to BGP's CincySportsFan! Grant did look especially good in the first half & played excellent team ball. Scoring was balanced & very few turnovers. (They committed them all in the 3rd!) They looked confident & ready to play. Reminded me of the first few games of the season...wins over Owen, Trimble & a very close game against Oldham. They are settling into their new roles & playing to the strengths of the players on the court. Put a whole game together like that first half & it will be interesting vs Walton in districts. Both regular season losses against Walton were not blowouts by any means & could have easily gone Grant's way, scores were 41-48 & 59-62.

Anyone have some free throw numbers? I heard the Harrison had the majority of their points from the line. What kind of defenses were run in this game? Sounds like this would have been a game to see!

:lol: Always cracks me up! One of my all time favorites is when I hear "call it even ref" & they yell out the total fouls called. Their team is applying full court pressure & in man to man. The other team is in a zone.

Is the time on this game at 6pm at Walton?

Grant held on in the second half to come out with a victory on Senior night. Score at the half was 36-15. At the end of the 3rd, 39-32. Grant played extremely well in the first half...second half?? Yuck! If they can play a whole game like they did that first half, Walton better look out next week in districts!
