Ohio may have the same problems, but they are not complaining about it like KY. Ohio Schools have the Pride and Loyalty that KYDLINEGUY talks about. They would rather work a little harder and try to win a state championship than complain and try to get rid of the schools that have won the championships instead. They learn from losses and continue to work on their weaknesses and come back stronger, with a chip on their shoulder ready to battle for the championship the next year.

Enzweiler threw 7 innings. Lipscomb got out of a bases loaded Jam in the eighth. Enzweiler Doubled with 2 outs in the 8th to set the stage for Horan. That is what happened...

This is due to Soccer still practicing on the outfield in the fall. The Soccer field at Morscher should be finished by this fall and they will be off the baseball field and the coaches will be able to begin work on the outfield. The infield was worked on last year from pitchers mound to third base dug out. that side of the field is great, the ridge goes from 1st to 2nd is almost completely gone. I think NCC's field has the potential to be up there with St Henry, not right now, but there is potential. They just need to keep doing it a little at a time. It is definitely 100 times better than Homerun heaven up on the hill. I say it is one of the top fields in the area.

You are correct, The Great Lakes Valley Conference is the only Conference in America that uses wood bats. That is in all divisions, I, II & III or NAIA or JC. It is a great way to play the game. The one thing wooden bats do is weed out the good hitters, if you don't hit the ball solid you are more than likely going to break your bat. This gets rid of the guys hitting .750 with no doubles, home runs and few RBI's. I think it is great for Baseball. I think everyone should go wood.

Newcath did not have a good game either. If it wasn't for one inning when ludlow threw a couple balls away and Newcath actually hit the ball a little, they would have lost. Ludlow's coach is doing a good job down there, he is getting them very disciplined.

NewCath got off to a bad start, walking the lead off hitter on four pitches, from there it just continued. Starter Alex Pangallo couldn't find the strike zone through his inning and a half of work. NewCath finally settled down a little but it was too late as they were playing catchup from the get go. NewCath had opportunities, but could not capitalize, hit into a double play with bases loaded and one out. Left 2 men on base at least three times. NewCath actually out hit CovCath but they gave CovCath 11 Free Passes, of which, 6 scored for the Colonels. CovCath, as ussual, did all the little things well, they fielded the ball nicely and got bunts down in situation and played a fundamentally sound ball game. I believe the only slip up was in the 6th when 1st basemen Bleser had a ground ball to him with runners on first and second and I guess had a brain fart for a moment, through it home thinking the bases were loaded. This was the only defensive mistake I can recall. They got a double play to end the inning 2 batters later. NewCath needs to find the strikezone if they want to compete this year, it is going to start with the pitching. They are going to have to hit for avg. because they do not have a whole lot of power. I think this game could be alot more interesting if and when NewCath can put it all together. Good Luck to both teams the rest of the year.:thumb:

You must have been on the HHS side then...The point is, it would be different if this was a kid who rarely got to do things like this. Mayo has been dunking since 8th grade, you would think after 5 years he would be able to act like he has been there before. This was classless, and you really can't blame the kid, he is a 19 yr old kid, he is in high school. The coach is the person that has shown no class, this is his decision to keep his best player in the game up by 40+. That is wrong, it doesn't matter if noone cared or if everyone was entertained, do you really think the kids in the other uniforms were entertained? Being down by 40 late in the game and seeing the National Player of the year, still in the game and pulling a stunt like that entertained them? That is just showing up a team.

:confused: What does that mean? If you are in the regional tourney and you are playing a district winner, I don't think I would make a comment like that. 1st round means nothing, In the post season, anything can happen.

I think he had about 20, Teddy Wiseman was definitely the high scorer last night, he had to of had close to 40.

This is just a question, don't kill me on this... Why do the small schools need to benefit? I thought this was high school competitive sports? This isn't 3rd grade instructional league "let everyone play" is it? If you want a chance at the region, work your butt off and beat somebody during the regular season. Don't hope for a good draw so you can get to the region.

This is why you should seed the district just like everyone else does.

I heard that they drew wrong and now they are having a re-draw today? How can you draw wrong? You draw a number and then you go to that spot on the bracket. Doesn't seem like rocket science. I heard that Bellevue's AD was a big factor in the re-draw. He apparently is the one who brought up the error to the KHSAA. Anyone have any info on this?

It sure wasn't pretty, but a win is a win. I agree with APNW, Ryle would run ball screens at the top of the key for an entire minute and then instead of going towards the basket they would throw it away. When you are down 10-12 points in the 4th quarter, you need to attack the basket. I think NewCath made 2 threes all night, probably about 2-12 or so. NewCath is a totally different team with Kiernan in there, but then again who wouldn't be? On a side note: NewCath's JV also shut out Ryle in the first quarter. (11-0) When is the last time a JV and Varsity pitched first quarter shut outs in the same night?
