Walton Verona vs Boone County prediction
Who wins and why? Boone is going to be a big favorite in this game. This game should be a good measuring stick for Coach Miller and his Bearcats. Good luck to both teams. The season is finally here!!!!

8th Region 2010-2011 CJ Preview
She is one of the top 10 players in the region without a doubt. If the reason is they didn't want three kids from Anderson on it, well personally I think that is wrong (you should vote for the top 10 players)

Walton Verona Vs Holy Cross Scrimmage
Holy Cross was at a disadvantage without their two best players. Beal didn't play and Julian suffered an injury early in the game. I hope that her injury is not serious. I believe the final was 74-29. Walton ability to sub 9 players wore Holy Cross down. Holy Cross looks to have a very good team this year if everybody is healthy. I really liked number 42 she was very physical on the low block.

That is the score at the end of each quarter. The 1st half Dixie won 34-26. The 2nd half Walton won 37-35, Dixie did not score 113.

8th Region Outlook
At the Scott County Hoopfest - Shelby played Berea, and Shelby struggled with anything Berea did defensively in the full court. They look like they have some young players with some talent so the future looks pretty bright for Shelby. Walton played Cooper. Walton looked a little sloppy at times. Overall they played decent for their first time out. I thought Freshman Shelby Mullikin gave Walton some very good minutes. Today Collins, Williamstown, Carroll Co and Owen Co play.

8th Region Outlook
Totally agree about the schedule. But in Walton's defense they had to schedule 12 conference games and 6 district games. The Williamstown games count for both so that makes a total of 16 games before you even start to think about scheduling anyone else. The Dixie Tournament, the All A region count for one game. So that makes 18 games and two games in the All A state made for 20. They ended up having to cancel games with Trimble and Henry to stay under the KHSAA rule of 23. This year the NCKC conference rule was changed and now you only have to play conference opponents once. That freed up a few games and they are using the 1st round of the All A as a conference game with Gallatin. Their schedule is much better this year and it remains to be seen how they do.

Walton Verona/Bracken County Predictions
I think a lot of Bearcat fans have a lot of respect for Brossart and would like for them to do well because the programs started around the same time. I know I always check scores to see how Brossart is doing. I think a home playoff game would be great. But, 1st Walton needs to beat Bracken and if that happens everybody in Verona will be scoreboard watching. Good luck to both the Bearcats and Mustangs.

Conner 2010/2011
I believe that Amanda Ray will have a big year in the post for Conner. I also look for Castleberry to be much improved at the point. I do agree with previous posters that Fischer will be the team leader and they will need both Kring and Peacock to have big years.

9th Region Greatest of all time?
Cowens was voted 1 of the best 50 players of the 20th century and is a member of the basketball hall of fame. I would say Cowens is the best that NKY ever produced. Next Crigler and Thacker both won NCAA titles with UK and UC. I was too young to see any of the 3 play in High School, but their post high school careers were pretty good. In high school Beal was a game changer, Draud could and would shoot from anywhere. Jennings was a beast. Schloemer was a great high school player. There has been a lot of talented players come from the NKY area, it is really hard to pick a top ten without leaving someone out. Here is mine in no particular order. 1. Cowens -NCC 2. Beal -Holmes 3. Crigler -Boone 4. Thacker -Cov Grant 5. Schloemer -Holmes 6. Jennings -Holmes 7. Vories -Newport 8. Parton -Conner 9. Doelman-Ryle 10. McKinley -Simon

I have watched her play over the years, both in HS and coming up through the AAU circuit, and she is the type of player that sometimes you just say "wow!!"

NKYMSFL 2010
Does anyone know who won the small school championship?

8th Region Outlook
This should make for good competition during practice, and if defense is something Slavey needs to work on maybe this will motivate her to do so. IMO all of Walton's starters from last year will lose minutes this year it will be hard to keep Taulbee and Judy off the floor. Can you clarify the kool-aid remark?

Tichenor beat Walton 19-12 in the 1st round of the playoffs. NewCath and Newport played in the night cap but, I'm not sure who won.
