  2. I agree, but wait until the season is over to vote. What is the rush?
  3. Shame on the Ryle fans blaming the refs because they couldn't guard McNeil.
  4. Ryle had a chance to win at the end of regulation. Walton had a 3 point lead in OT with the ball and couldn't finish the deal. Zach Perkins got a key rebound off a missed FT and stuck it back in to give Ryle a 1 point lead with only 15 or so seconds left in OT. Zach McNeil had a pretty good look for the win, but the ball went in and came back out. Walton fouled for the final margin. Really fun game to watch.
  5. Nice bounce back game for Walton. Tibbs is a load. Congrats to Kelli Dixon she scored her 1500 career point during the game.
  6. They were not missing players or their coach. Gayheart went down in the 4th quarter with about 2 minutes left (hope she is alright). It was a 20+ game at the time, don't know why she was still in. But, he had all his starters in the game still.
  7. Walton was not prepared or inspired. Very flat and Owen punch them in the mouth on numerous ocassions and they did not respond at all. I saw very little fight in them last night and that was sad. The season is not over, but for Walton it may be. Congrats to Owen the more prepared and more inspired team.
  8. Great job Williamstown and congrats to their seniors. Coach Wilhoite does a great job.
  9. People tend to only remember turnovers that lead to baskets for the other team. They sometimes forget the turnovers that take a basket away from their team.
  10. The guard play was not the only reason for the lose. Walton missed multiple point blank layups - good teams don't do that. Too many turnovers, but everybody contributed to that. Once again Walton is able to beat the press and fails to convert on the other end. I can only remember Walton turning the ball over 3 maybe 4 times in the back court. Walton seemed to play not to lose instead of finishing the game. I don't understand the Slavey move myself, or why you have your bigs on the lane with 8 seconds left, with the lead, instead of protecting the defensive basket, especially if you don't plan to foul on the miss. A lot of things went wrong tonight for Walton and Danville made them pay. Good job Danville.
  11. Here are Cantrell's ratings. Newport Central Catholic 79.6 Owensboro Catholic 72.6 Walton Verona 71.8 Monroe County 71.5 Sheldon Clark 70.4 CAL 69.6 Ballard Memorial 66.2 Danville 65.3 Lexington Christian 65.2 Leslie County 64.5 LV Holy Cross 63.9 Crittenden County 60.1 West Carter 58.7 Saint Patrick 57.1 Harlan 54.3 Washington County 47.3
  12. Final from New Castle. Not the prettiest of games. Walton looked a little tired tonight - 6 games in 8 days. It is good they have some time off now before the all A on Wednesday.
  13. Nice win for South Oldham. The regional tournament could be very interesting.
  14. I thought Simon might have a hard time scoring against NCC especially if they are not making 3s. I'm sure coach Stowers will use this for motivation to get them ready for the stretch drive. Simon Kenton (10-7): Tomlin 2 0 4, Stephenson 1 0 3, Blevins 0 2 2, Wainscott 3 0 7, Owings 4 0 9, Orr 2 0 4, Morrison 0 1 1. Totals 12 3 30. Newport Central Catholic (13-3): Muench 3 2 8, Fryer 5 2 13, Kiernan 2 0 4, Thiem 5 6 17, Bartels 4 0 9, Buchanan 3 0 6, Huber 0 2 2. Totals 22 12 59. Simon Kenton 10 5 12 3 -30 NewCath 16 15 19 9 -59 Three-point goals: SK-Stephenson, Wainscott, Owings. NCC-Fryer, Thiem, Bartels.
  15. Highlands has players that can make plays, and are well coached. Not overly shocked by this outcome. Ryle has been playing well lately and I'm sure they will be ready for Boone next week.
  16. I think South is looking pretty good right now, but I wouldn't put Walton to far behind them. It appears Anderson is not playing very well at this point, but I'm sure that will change come tournament time.
  17. Final from Williamstown. Ten point game at halftime and then Walton blew the game open in the 2nd half.
  18. I believe the year was 1986. I also saw a good one between Walton and Conner in the 1980 districts at Conner.
  19. I seen almost every Walton game, and I can't remember them struggling against a press this year (90% of their turnover are on their side of half court). They struggle when a team sets down in a good half court man to man. I know most teams don't press as well as NCC, but getting the ball across half court has not been the problem for Walton so far.
  20. I agree, but it is hard to drive when you run into your own players cutting thru the lane. Walton's offense doesn't usually allow for penetration it is more design to hit cutters. Which is why they struggle in half court games.
