  1. Walton deserved to lose this game. Didn't play well - Walton was down only 6 at half after battling foul trouble the whole 1st half. Then the wheels came off in the 3rd quarter. As previously stated Walton didn't score in the 3rd quarter, nor did they look to attack the basket at all. Murray had one team foul in the 2nd half, and that was in the last minute of the 4th quarter. They will need to regroup quickly with the Simon game only a couple days away.
  2. I might be a little biased but I think Walton has the best 4/5 combo (plus Judy will be back next week to add to the frontline depth). Dixon and Sandlin are pretty good. I still feel Simon will be the team to beat in the tournament - home floor. I'm still not convinced that South can score enough points to win three tough games. Draw will be very important. But, if the tournament started right now - I would really like Anderson's chances.
  3. I agree. It appears she has been stepping her game up with Wainscott being injured.
  4. Walton vs NCC would be nice to see from a NKY point of view. Walton has a lot of work to do to make that happen. The 2nd round game for NCC could be a pretty good game (both Somerset and Green County look to be good teams). This tournament looks to be a NCC vs LCA finals. Good luck to all teams.
  5. Molly is a Freshman. Jenna Crittenden & Ashley Cheesman (Ryle) Sydney Moss (Boone) Taylor Stinson (Scott) Jayden Julian (Holy Cross) Kara Taulbee (Conner) I'm sure there are more - just a few names off the top of my head.
  6. It is hard to schedule when you have to play every conference school twice and every district school twice. You have 23 games to schedule you play in two tournaments (that counts as 2 games). Play each conference school twice (12 games), play each district school twice (4 games) - the Williamstown games count for both conference and district. That's 18 games. So that gives you 5 games to schedule. Next year I believe they are locked in to North Oldham at home and Highlands at Highlands. With the class A tournament counting 1 tournament, you really only have one tournament to schedule. Hopefully, next year they can schedule a good holiday tournament and use the 3 remaining games to schedule some top programs. Other teams in the conference have more flexibility because of double dipping conference/district games. So the 31st district teams have 6 additional games they can schedule and Trimble, because they only play 1 game per district opponent has 3 additional games they can schedule. For both Walton and Williamstown going to 1 game vs conference schools would free up a lot of scheduling opportunities.
  7. 1/20/2010 Walton Verona 44 Owen Co. 42 Walton Verona 11 11 7 15 44 Owen Co. 8 14 14 6 42 Walton Verona (15-2) -- Lay 3, Warren 6, Slavey 5, Hoffa 5, Ginn 3, Dixon 22. Owen Co. (11-7) -- Gayheart 13, Wainscott 8, Neeley 7, Toole 4, Kemper 4, Lowe 6.
  8. She is a very nice player - hope everything is going to be alright.
  9. No she didn't play and yes it is still bothering her.
  10. Game at Owenton tonight. Not sure how many players will set this one out for Walton - trying to get everyone healthy for next week. Don't like the scheduling of this game the week between the All A regional and State. I look for Owen to come out and play really hard. I hope the Bearcats can match Owen's intensity.
  11. Sandlin WV (MVP) Dixon WV Ginn WV Hoffa WV Dossett GC Hill GC Jones GC Wilhoit Williamstown West Williamstown Gayheart Owen Neeley Owen Mitchell(???) Trimble Devine Carroll I think this is right. I might have the Trimble County girl wrong.
  12. Tough loss for Williamstown. They never gave up and gave themselves a chance at the end. Nice win for Gallatin. Good luck to Coach Roberts and her Lady Wildcats in the finals.
  13. I would think that Owen is wearing the favorite tag - they were the top ranked "A" school in the preseason. The two teams have not played this year. This will be the 1st of at least 3 meetings. Owen is riding a 6 game winning streak entering the game. I agree - should be fun to watch.
  14. Owen will come out a totally different team than the one you saw against Trimble. I think that emotions will be running high on Friday night (it looked like Owen was lifeless at times against Trimble), and if Owen can knock down a few shots and defend the post - it is anybodies game. Walton will need to contain Gayheart, limit turnovers and rebound the ball. Walton struggled rebounding against a smaller Carroll County team. Should be a nice crowd and an enjoyable game to watch.
  15. In watching him coach over the last several years, both with the boys and girls, IMO he is a very good coach. His kids play hard, smart and execute.
  16. Wow - Conner did not hit one 3 pointer. Highlands must of done a great job with their perimeter defense.
  17. Walton is at it's best when both Sandlin and Dixon are playing well, and playing off of each other. All the girls did a great job on the defensive end.
  18. Sandlin was huge tonight for the Bearcats. Good luck Friday against Owen. 1/13/2010 Walton Verona 47 Carroll Co. 38 Carroll Co. 10 12 5 11 38 Walton Verona 13 9 12 13 47 8th Region All 'A' Classic at Gallatin Co. Carroll Co. (8-9) -- Brindley 2, Devine 12, Osborne 11, Curry 3, Hunter 10. Walton Verona (12-2) -- Warren 3, Clinkenbeard 3, Slavey 3, Hoffa 4, Dixon 10, Sandlin 24.
  19. Junior- Wainscott (SK), Dixon (WV) Soph- Gayheart (Owen), Whitfield (SO) Freshman- Sandlin (WV), Neeley (Owen) 8th - McKee (Anderson), Dossett (Gallatin) I have not seen Shelby County play this year. There is a lot of young talent in the 8th. I know Devine is having a great year at Carroll. Brown at Anderson is very good. Wilhoite at Williamstown is very talented and plays as hard or harder than anyone in the region. Makes for interesting conversation.
  20. Good District win for the Bearcats. Walton is actually 11-2.
  21. A coaches dream - someone who plays hard, smart and is a total team player with talent. Plus I bet he is the coaches wife's favorite player.
  22. I believe that lighting the fields for the baseball and softball are in the works. Not sure of a time frame. It will be nice to see the kids play football on Friday nights next year. I don't think the cows and horses will mind.
  23. Owen Co. 51 Gallatin Co. 36 Owen Co. 12 12 14 13 51 Gallatin Co. 7 11 7 11 36 Owen Co. (9-5) -- Gayheart 4, Kemper 1, Toole 10, Wainscott 15, Neeley 17, Fitzgerald 2, Waldrop 2. Gallatin Co. (7-5) -- Hill 7, Davis 13, Dossett 8, Morris 2, Jones 6.
