Same thing will probably happen to the King twins in Mt. Olivet, over the next few years. Unfortunately, kids in small schools don't get the exposure and alot of that is probably due to the lack of help on the bench. Wonder what all of the previously mentioned kids could become at a larger school?:confused:

It's always going to be someones home court unless you move it to NKU. I believe that GRC has more regional titles than Mason Co. Does anyone have statistics?

I agree. I think they will come to the boys tourny no matter what night of the week it is. It depends more on who is playing.

Bracken Co. had the districts last year and don't critize Fred until you have walked in his shoes. He has major responsibilities that few realize. Here's another few reasons why the idea is dumb. For some small schools (Deming, Augusta, Nicholas Co) who don't get the opportunity to play in the fieldhouse they are just happy to make it to the region. It was overheard last year that this was their state tourny. Remember from the river to the region!! I have also heard former students from these schools say they never had the opportunity to play in the fieldhouse. The 10th region tourny is a special atmosphere, why deprive these kids of that. Another point, there is no other more centrally located place in the region than Maysville. It would take 2 hours on a bus for the Northern Ky schools to get to Mt. Sterling and vica versa. Remember most of these games take place on school nights and the students must go to school the next day. They are students first. Also do you have any idea how much money it takes to send school buses that far with gas prices the way they are today? You are talking at least 3 buses for most schools (team, band & cheerleaders). A 4 hour round trip paying for buses and drivers gets expensive. I still say that eventually money talks!

Pendleton should've beat Harrison last week in the MCIT. New Coach (Sims) got outcoached by a very experienced one. I think it will probably happen again only this time by Reitz. I choose Campbell in a close one by 4. Good Luck to both.

Darius also had a nice one in the 5/3 against Russell Co. It made the news and was pretty much the only highlight of the game.

I think this is just about the dumbest idea that I have heard of. I do have a few thoughts. 1. If you break apart the tournament, how would the crowds be. There are many people that attend the games that are not affiliated with any schools. 2. Teams participating in the boys tourny usually take home a nice paycheck. Somewhere between 4,000 -5,000$. It really helps out small schools who have smaller athletic budgets. 3. Montgomery Co. may have a nice new gym BUT it is not as big as the fieldhouse therefore it will cut into point 2. When Pendleton Co. won the region 2 years ago there were many people who couldn't get in because the fire marshall shut the doors. They may try it once and when everyone realizes their paycheck isn't as big, it will soon find it's way back to Maysville. 4. Ladies ball coach is correct, many families can't afford to go every night and the girls would ultimately suffer. There again, it all goes back to $$$$$.

Sorry but it just wouldn't be the 10th region if you took out the royals and the tournament out of the fieldhouse. Regions are established geographically not by ability levels or even the size of schools. That is what makes Kentucky basketball and the sweet 16 special. :confused:

I agree that Fleming should have been left in the 39th. Pendleton Co. came out smelling like a rose moving away from Campbell Co & Brossart and in with Deming and Nicholas Co. It also made sense to move Estill Co. out of the 10th but I don't necessarily agree with moving the Kenton Co. schools in.

The Saints have a tough court to play on. I believe they win by 8.

I didn't realize that basketball games were won by histories, I thought they were won on the court not in the trophy case. Congratulations Black Devils Keep working hard!!! :thumb:

I can' t imagine why Brossart's announcers were complaining about the refs, they got by with a lot of fouls down in the paint (Cooper). At one point Setty had 3 guys laying on top of him and no foul was called. Mason County played their best defensive game of the season and it is about time!!! Highfield was correct the coach is a small guy (size wise) and I don't recall his name either. He was however complaining to the refs at every opportunity. At times Pawsat couldn't breathe without a foul being called and Middleton was almost tackeled on several occasions with no fouls called. Brossart will no doubt bounce back in time for the All A! Go Royals :banana:

Marty Wallingford was a fieldhouse tradition. He no longer does the games but was recently elected to school board. Maybe he'll make a comeback. :thumb:

Miller is a junior this year as is Setty. Middleton is a sophomore. Mason should be strong for several years.

As much as I hate to say it. I give the advantage to GRC right now. The Royals have some work to do, too many missed opportunities of late. Come March, I hope the strength of the Royals schedule will give the edge to them. GO ROYALS!!!!

I can't see Miller going to Tennessee, it would be in Lofton's shadow. What I wish is that he would commit to a school to get the monkey off of his back and concentrate on playing better basketball and winning games.
