I don't see how you could even begin to compare Knowles to Lofton. Chris Lofton was NEVER benched by any coach for disciplinary reasons. Yes Knowles can play ball, I've seen that first hand, but he is no Chris Lofton!!! :irked: Wesley Jones with a little more talent comes to my mind!

They got $500,000.00 and were told to start looking for land. No piece of property around the city passed approval, from the state. I guess excavating one of those 7 hills wouldn't work. So according to Chuck when he was telling city officials who were concerned about what would happen to the current building, he said they were going to build on the current property they owned. The city liked that plan better because of the H2O department, sewer system and city taxes. They recently received another 5 million, but still need 5 more I believe was the lastest numbers I heard. But according to Mr. Bearfacts, evidently Chuck or the school board doesn't know as much as they think they do and are telling. I also heard the Massey family wanted the mascot to be the bulldogs.

Someone better tell Chuck Brown and the school board that then. Because that is what they are saying. It would be interesting for it to end up in court though. I really don't have a dog in this fight other than the fact that I live and pay taxes here. No kids & don't care. I just find it interesting. By the way the school has bought additional property other than the original sight. You know property that surrounded it so that it all joins together. My guess the originial sight would be the Deming Parking Lot.

Which wouldn't be a problem if things are left alone! The sessions have been split for the past several years. Before that, things got hairy with teams & fans moving in and out plus crowds. Not enough room.

The current plans keep both the gym and the vo tech building. The old building will be torn down.:cry: :confused: But I know things change.

All of the Deming descendants are dead. Katherine Deming was the last of the line when she died a few years ago. Unfortunately there is none of them around to make sure the name is kept. I really feel the high school should change. I really got tired of people asking where Deming County is and still do. But I do think the elementary school should still be called Deming and I'm for keeping the devils.

Is it KHSAA rules that says it rotates districts or the regions decision to do it that way? I've also heard that KHSAA says the new site has to be large enough to handle the crowds of the last 5 years. Is this correct? If if is, then it may not go South. There have been huge crowds at the finals for the past 2 years and I can't see this year being different.

39th - Mason & St. Pat 38th - Harrison & Deming (if the Devils can hold it together & I'm rooting for PHS) 37th - Montgomery & Clark

Who says it has to be a certain districts choice? Why can't the entire region vote? What would it be 12 to 4 or possibly 3?

That's what I've said all along. The 10th region fan base is not in that part of the region. Mt. Olivet people go to Maysville to the games, even the crappy ones. They won't make that drive night in and night out to Mt. Sterling. The Mont. Co people didn't turn out to support the prep classic to see the top teams in the state. They even played the game after the one I went to and the attendance was small. I highly doubt they'll support the tournament like the people in our area.

Amen Ladies Ball Coach!!!! I agree with everything you just said. In addition I don't think it is fair to pass on Montgomery Co's needs to the consumers. Sometimes its or hard enough for a family of 5 or so to pay the current price on several different nights, so by all means lets turn basketball into a sport for the wealthy by raising the ticket price!!

I don't remember that one and my sister graduated from there and cheered for the black devils in mid 80's. :thumb: My thoughts exactly! It will interesting as to how all this plays out. I belive there is already some arguement brewing!

Sounds like the perfect plan to me! Maybe I'll win the lottery and donate it! I really wanted to make everyone see just how stupid the idea of moving it from the biggest facility in the region out of petty jealously really is. Now everyone should've have figured out where I'm from. I just attend alot of Mason County's game because I enjoy watching them play! I also go to many Deming games! I did attend the game played at Montgomery Co and this gym is no where as big as the fieldhouse. The one side that has the large concrete wall should have been used as seating if they had wanted to compete. Also the people of Montgomery Co didn't support the the showcase games that I attended. They had many of the states top teams playing in Mt Sterling and the crowd was terrible!! Are they really going to show up to watch games such as Deming vs. Mason or GRC vs Augusta. I think not! Fans from Deming, Bracken Co. Augusta, Fleming Co and other surrounding counties go to the fieldhouse for the tournament as a social event. They're used to going and look forward to it. I wouldn't drive over an hour to go to these games but I sure do drive to Maysville and look forward to it every year. Another thought. MCHS spent 8.1 million dollars on a new gym. How do their classrooms look? Do they have advanced technology such as smart boards in every classroom? It's already been stated on this thread that they have a .10 football field. Maybe they have their priorities a little out of whack! I know when Deming builds the new school the emphasis will be on classrooms and the education of the students, not attracting the 10th regional tournament!

I've lived in Mt. Olivet my entire life and have family and friends that go to Deming and work there. They've also told the freshmen that they probably wouldn't graduate from Deming High School. It doesn't come much straighter than that. They also are going to build the school on the current site and have a large amount of funding for it already. Do you want to know anything else? K-12 will be in the same building as it is now but in different sections of the building. I don't know who Devilman is but if he knew too much about whats going on in MT. O. He would've known that Scotty Graves was the best player to ever play for the black devils from a previous thread. I personally think that should keep the name Deming Elementary in order to keep with tradition. Maybe just change from Black Devils to Red Devils.

I believe that when Robertson County builds their new school. It will be called Robertson County High School and their contemplating changing the name from Devils. Any suggestions on the new name? Robertson Co. ?

So is Deming and they've almost got all the funding only it won't be called Deming anymore. The new name is Robertson County High School. They're modeling it after Mason Co.'s new intermediate school. The one that has 2 gyms. Ooops, I said that dirty word again. The one that very few on this site seem to like.

Hey I think there's even a fire marshall that lives in Robertson Co. too.
