The modified wishbone formation you speak of is actually a power formation with two fullbacks. And the players were not an o-lineman and tight end, they were two fullbacks in John Pabst and Nick Franzen, both of which also play linebacker on defense.

Newcath should be thrown into the mix also. Returning 6 starters on defence. the Thoroughbreds will be extremely fast and quick to the football on the defensive side this year.

NewCath and Newport is a good rivalry, going back several decades when it first started and playing for the Fireman's Bell. It will be different this year with them playing towards the end of the season instead of the beginning and for home-field advantage in the playoffs.

For the Junior game the East also swept the West winning the first game 6-5 and the second 2-1 in 10 innings.

NewCath & Beechwood is the best small school rivalry without a doubt, it's a shame that there not in the same class anymore.

For NewCath, if Ben Parr can stay injury free he'll be one of the best in the state. He has a rocket launcher attached to his arm. And he's not small, at 6'3 205, he can take a hit. If he's not, NC has two players capable of getting the job done, Wes Diehl or Robby Kues.

If you have seen this kid, then you would believe the squat. He's 6'0, 270. He is just one of those kids that has natural strength and then add it to working out hard for several months, someone can do it. The bench numbers are true as well, it just comes from hard work and dedication since January.

Very good game by both teams.

Jimmy Ryan picted well but only threw 4 innings for the Indians. Enzweiler pitched a 1 hitter in 6 Innings. Lipscomb came in the 7th to finish off the indians. After a leadoff walk to Enzweiler, Phil Horan got the game winning base hit in the bottom of the 8th to beat the indians.
