statmanhensley
Remember folks, these threads are just for fun for us to compare what would happen this year if every team had everyone back in the current playoff format. I will have to give jimmyref the credit for the idea to do this. I did however do mine just a tad different....I'm using a winning percentage to determine the seeding and playoff results. So here is what Class 2A would end up looking like: (Teams in italics will, of course, not be included in the playoff scenario but I'm including them for records purposes. ALSO, for in an instance a tie occurs, I went to see if those teams played each other and broke it that way OR if they didn't play each other, I used a points scored/points allowed ratio to break the tie.) District 1 1. Caldwell County 10-2 2. Trigg County 10-3 3. Murray 5-7 4. Heath 3-7 5. Reidland 2-8 District 2 1. Fort Campbell 8-3 2. Owensboro Catholic 9-5 3. Hancock County 4-6 4. strike-3
I think Owensboro Catholic will be a tough out come playoff time. Their winning percentage would be higher except they annually schedule stiff competition. Beside the 3 former 4A local schools they usually play South Spencer (IN) which is usually around the top 10 in 2A. This year they have added Madisonville and Evansville Reitz. In my opinion it is possible that they could go 4-6 in the regular season (It's likely they will do better) and still be a favorite to advance far in the 2A playoffs. Campbell this year 10/19. This should provide a nice playoff preview.
Hearsay
I, of course, love the way this works out. Bardstown and Danville, likely twice in one year, is going to be a clash of titans.

statmanhensley
Tell me a little about bardstown. What makes you favor them so much? I don't favor them over one other team....if you would read the entire post, you'll know that the "predictions" were solely based off of winning percentage ONLY from last year. As far as this seaosn, I have no clue who I would actually pick as my pre-season favorite to win the state title because I don't know too much about any of the teams. I make my actual selection once I see all the previews.

mexitucky
Opinions: Is Newcath going to a contender in the 2A this year? That depends on how the lines gel and whether Kelly can take over for Vickars. I believe that by the end of the year Parr will be a very solid QB.
LoveBoatCaptain
it would be great if bardstown won a championship in their first year with a new coach!
Lunatic1
I just heard today that Carroll County had 52 players come out for Football that is the most in several years. The new coach has really brought excitement back to the School and I ham hopeful that they will be the biggest surprise this year. I am hopeful that we have a better record than the prediction above and maybe win the district.
