I thought this South team was better than last year's team . . . but then again that's just my opinion. With the way Ricky Bowling is handling the ball he will break Tim Couch's record easily this season. Good luck to the Cardinals for the rest of the season and GO HOUNDS!!!!

Corbin (players) elect 4 captains and they are announced by the coach at the end of the year banquet. Only Upper classmen are eligible. They must be leaders on and off the field.

Corbin has lost in the Pigskin before. In 2005 they lost to Pikeville 34 to 0. But I do believe that the Hounds will be fired up for this one.

I'm a Redhound fan, but if I remember correctly Corbin put up some goose eggs in their first few games. One at Belfry last year and one at Danville the year before that and there has been others. But there is no doubt about it, we have the talent to put up points if it is utilized in the right way.

Phelps was just plain not very good. It was a routing from the get go.

You cannot leave the marketing to the College Coaches. It takes work to get noticed with an investment of time and money. You need to be realistic in your search and try to fit the talent of the kid to the school. You must keep communication lines open. Although the coaches are bound by certain guidelines as to when they can talk to a player, the player can contact coaches at ANY time. You need to be proactive.

Knox Central comes to the Cumberland Falls Pigskin on Friday, Sept. 5th to meet up with the Hounds on their turf. Both are coming off week one wins. Who prevails?

Fritts had 2 td's; Watkins had several key tackles, 1 td; a safety; and a good run on a kick return. Campbell just bowled his way over and gained some significant yards each carry. I am not sure of actual carry numbers but Fritts had the most with Watkins and Campbell being about even. Watkins and Campbell both play both ways so that might have made the difference in touches . . . not sure. Defense looked confused setting up several times . . . not sure what was going on there. The penalty situation was a little lopsided but the delay of game two could have been avoided if the play call from the side lines would've happened sooner. Overall, a good effort for Corbin with a win on the Road. GO HOUNDS!! Do your homework and get ready for Knox Central next week!

Corbin actually has three very good running backs. Michael Campbell needs more carries as well. I think if you allow each one to do their "thing" it will keep the other defense off guard. Running the same route with the same back over and over is not going to fool anyone. In fact, it might end up getting someone hurt and that would be a shame.

Corbin simply needs to show up ready to play and if they do that they will be fine. They need to play with a chip on their shoulder to revenge the somewhat embarrasing loss we suffered from Belfry last year. We need to play REDHOUND FOOTBALL and not let ourselves be intimidated. Pikeville will have a good team we just need to play our game --- not theirs. If we do this we come home with a W in the column.

Watkins got about 4 carries. Not sure what Fritts got but he had the bulk of them.

However, I really don't think Clay would've allowed the score to be this lopsided if they really didn't need to work on some things. In particular their defensive line.

Actually Clay threw the ball very little last night. I think that is actually the bread and butter. They are better in the passing game than the running game. Corbin's defense isn't bad though.

The Hounds did very well. The final score was 42-20. The JV for both teams went in the last 9 minutes of the game. Scorers for the Hounds included Fritts, Campbell, Watkins, Fredrick, Taylor. We primarily utilized a running attack. A few short passes here and there. All our backs moved the ball well. Fritts and Campbell had good runs and Watkins ran one in from about 70 yards. Our Offensive Line did very well. Clays defense appeared confused and off. Their quarterback Zach Lewis threw the ball well and they had a couple of other very good players in #15 and #81. Hounds will just keep improving and Lance is getting more confident. I am ready for the season to begin. Next Saturday a trip to Pike County will give the Hounds another test --- how we handle a three hour bus ride. I am looking forward to it. GO HOUNDS!!!
