Hounds looked good very impressed with the running attack, offensive line blocked well. Was it just me or was the Foley kid every where on defense. Also big #34 Campbell is a hoss and he sure can kick the fire out of that ball.:banana:

What was the final stats? I know Fritts had 169 yards rushing in the first half with TD's of 69 and 65 yards.

Pikeville can build on this. Past teams wouldve given up at 23-8 but we battled back and came up just short. Keep your head up boys we WILL get better.

Fritts had 2 td's; Watkins had several key tackles, 1 td; a safety; and a good run on a kick return. Campbell just bowled his way over and gained some significant yards each carry. I am not sure of actual carry numbers but Fritts had the most with Watkins and Campbell being about even. Watkins and Campbell both play both ways so that might have made the difference in touches . . . not sure. Defense looked confused setting up several times . . . not sure what was going on there. The penalty situation was a little lopsided but the delay of game two could have been avoided if the play call from the side lines would've happened sooner. Overall, a good effort for Corbin with a win on the Road. GO HOUNDS!! Do your homework and get ready for Knox Central next week!

I agree. I thought there was a lot of shuffling around by the defense. Manns looked like an inexperienced DE much of the night. Linebackers played well and saved the day on several plays. DB's need work as well. A good passing team will test the Hounds. Fritts, Watkins and Campbell looked good running the ball and the offensive line Hayden, Taylor and others looked to control the line of scrimmage. Hounds shot themselves in the foot on a couple of drives with penalties and miscues which will be corrected with more practice.Overall a good win on the road. Now on to KC and a big home crowd.

Both teams looked about average for their class to me, but as well they should considering hwo much talent both teams lost from last season.

 

Pikeville looked eerily familiar to last season as they constantly shot themselves in the foot with turnovers (they did appeared MUCH, MUCH more disciplined though in terms of penalties). Daniel Harmon was Daniel Harmon, he played his heart out. Branham looked like a QB with limited experience as he forced a couple throws, he'll improve. Pikeville's O-line was dreadful as Corbin constantly disrupted the Pikeville offens ein the backfield and 90% of Harmon's yards came after first contact.

 

Corbin's backs were very impressive, all three of them. Fritz never quits digging his legs, Campbell is a box truck, and Watkins brings a nice mix of power and speed. The QB was overmatched and never displayed the ability to throw the ball downfield, even when he did throw it downfield the Redhounds had issues dropping passes. Corbin's special teams won this game for then. Campbell's punting was critical, and their return game constantly put them in good field position.

 

Neither team is on par with the top teams int heir class as of now, but both teams also will improve dramatically as the season goes.
