I wholeheartedly agree, while Trinity and X have great teams and individual players so do other teams around the state . . . these teams (T and X) get more media attention and therefore their players and team are more "well known" but there are equally good (some perhaps better) players around the great commonwealth of Kentucky and I am just as proud of these unsung players who also represent our state well. :thumb:

Exactly. Being selected to the all state team is an honor and all players are to be congratulated. However, it is not necessarily indicative of who will or will not play D1 ball. Some who never receive this recognition at any level (1st team, 2nd team, honorable mention) go on to play at the D1 level and do so quite well. Everything must be kept in prospective.:thumb:

Corbin came into the season overrated. They have loads of talent but are still working out the kinks. At times they fail to play as a team and choose to take unwise shots rather than pass the ball to an open player. Selfish play will get you beat as will playing as individuals rather than a cohesive group. It is early and we are hoping to see Tony and staff instill the value of team play. Scott is a great team with great talent. Good luck the rest of the tournament. You are a disciplined bunch.

Great post! I think many people underestimate what really goes in to football recruiting. Ignoring "lesser" known colleges that will pay for your education is a mistake in my opinion. Education should be first and foremost because even in a D-1 situation you are only one injury away from never playing again. Your education will get you through life. :thumb:

Who wins and why?

Watkins ended the year with 1192 yards rushing. 17 TD's (13 rushing, 2 other, 2 receiving), approximately 80 tackles, and approximately 6 sacks. He plays RB and OLB + special teams, he runs a 4.47 40 benches 290; cleans 290 and squats 455. He is being recruited by UK, Louisville, Western, Carson Newman, USB, and Centre. He attended game days for UK (invited to all home games,) Louisville, and Western this past season. He is an excellent student to go with it and if he can keep healthy will be a tremendous help to the Redhounds next year with Fritts, Taylor, Foley and others.

You guys have a great team and a chance to bring the title home. Good luck on Saturday.

It wasn't just ONE player that is what I am trying to say. It hurt us in this game. It would've been a whole different ball game if EVERYONE was healthy. Trust me on this one.

I believe the margin would've been a touchdown or less. I am just saying that while your team is excellent . . . everyone was healthy. Our team was not healthy. Not the only factors that caused the loss just a big one. The outcome would've likely been the same---your OL and DL were superior to ours. I am just telling you our running game would've been much better had alll of our players been healthy. We would have been able to compete with your running game easily and the score would have been much closer.:thumb:

No, I am not but the fact is our running game was depleted. Fritts was out due to a knee injury earlier in the year and Watkins has had a high ankle sprain since Oct 31st. That was essentially our backfield. So, with all things considered it would have been a very different game had we had healthy players. Corbin is an excellent team and so is NCC. Watkins has broken tackle after tackle when healthy and Fritts is shifty and elusive with both weapons the score would have been a lot closer.

While the outcome of the game may have been the same the score would've been much closer. Watkins was at less than 50% on Friday. He has broken tackles on very physical teams time and time this year. He would've have done the same on Friday had he not been crippled up. NCC is a VERY good team but so is Corbin we just couldn't overcome the injuries and they should've adjusted the run game to compensate for that---but for some reason we did not.

They did not call HUT but said BINGO which was a call for the players to move over. No intent to mimic the other teams cadence---just trying to direct our players to cover. It has been done this way all year and we've had no problems with it. It probably did not affect the outcome but a warning should have come before the penalty. Our coaches would never direct them to do something illegal or unsportsmanlike.

I just wanted to thank the NCC players, staff and parents (particularly the Kelly's) who were so gracious in encouraging Caleb when he was obviously injured, trying to play with everything he had, and couldn't execute because of the high ankle sprain. It really meant a lot to him. THANKS! He was injured on Oct 31st and has played all but one game (where he set out) with a great deal of pain. He and the team really wanted this but it is hard to get to state with the injuries our team has sustained this year. Our back field was virtually depleted. So, like the NCC parents, staff and players told Caleb . . . Fight back and we'll see you next year. Good luck in Louisville next week. And just wait 'till next year.

Key word there it seems to me is, "disconcerting".

No one is saying that we were cheated out of the game. But for a ref to call an unsportsmanlike penalty on a player when he is only calling out a defensive formation is not real good. What do you think? NCC's coach said, "I thought our defense really stepped up in the second half, we did a good job in not allowing their running backs to have a big play." NCC's D was very good, but our running game was not there because you simply can't run the ball on one good foot. When Watkins reinjured his foot last week we knew this week would be real rough and then in the first half he turned it again, he basically was finished then and probably should not have played offense the second half at all. Campbell only carried the ball 4 times for 14 yards. Watkins carried it 14 times and I would say in his condition that was 10 times too many. But its over and the best team won. NCC's O and D lines dominated the game. They are big and very good. Good luck to NCC next week. More than likely we will meet again next year.

If that is true, then the ref made a big boo boo, because it should have been a warning first. They also missed a big call when a NCC player climbed Taylor's back on a passing play.

Nobody layed down. We had 2 regular starting backs crippled up, Fritts out with the knee and Watkins with a high ankle sprain, so there goes your speed in the backfield. They had a great year. I don't think too many were expecting this good of a season.
