  1. CCU had 7 hits. 3 hits by Isler and a mammoth home run by Maile on a deuce. The double referred to by TheOldGuy was an error on the 2nd baseman in the first inning. A popfly 5 feet behind the 2nd baseman and he turns to look at the cf and rf who ran about 60 yards and just missed it. Also, 3 other hits TheOldGuy recorded were errors on bunts by FC. At one point Thompson had given up 3 runs on 2 singles and no walks. You figure it out. The Thompson kid pitched a great game but give CC coaches and players the credit because they executed small ball to perfection and played terrific defense. The force out at home by the 3rd baseman was a huge play. Maile picked a bad throw out of the dirt and caught it on a hop off his chest protector. The turning point in the game was win FC was up 5 to 2 with bases loaded and 2 outs. Conner had a 2-0 count and ball 3 was just pitched. Everyone in the stands could hear the coaching staff yelling at the kids on base to NOT get picked off. Conner had already gone 2 for 2 with a double off the fence in left center. Maile caught ball 3 and threw a throw to first. While it looked like the player was safe, he was called out and the inning ended. Momentum took a huge turn at that point. IMO, the errors cost Thompson to throw an extra 20 pitches and he ran out of gas at the end. CC was able to put two early runs on the board with 2 bunts that FC fouled up. A third sac bunt, a strike out and a single in the 4 hole by Isler. This kept the game close until CC could make a last inning rally.
  2. You can get the rosters at http://www.khsaa.org For example, click on Franklin County and it says roster under the name. If the coach has submitted a roster it will be there. I know Franklin County's is on-line because I have looked over it. I believe Cov Cath's is available as well.
  3. sounds like CC is very solid. If they have a weak spot or a spot that needs to be worked on, what is it? Is there anyone left on the schedule that can beat them? If so, who? Do they have any guys that have already signed and if so where have they signed?
  4. Speaking of the 11th, we are over 1/2 way home. Who is the favorite to win the 11th region at this point?
  5. This is almost comical. Do the coaches even look at the teams before they vote? Lexington Christian is beating everyone in Lexington. They are at the top of the leader board in the 11th region and are probably the best team in the state. Franklin County has beaten Western Hills 13-0 and 5-3 but are ranked below them at #10. P.R.P. is ranked #2 but who have they beaten? This is not a knock on PRP but I am sure Bill Miller will tell you that his team is not a top 5 team right now. He lost way too much last year and these guys are going to have to gel bet/ now and the regional tournament.
  6. Sounds like someone is trying to put some locker room post its in Hills's dugout and dressing room. How can you be so sure when Hills is the one ranked #9 in the state?
  7. Have you seen Franklin County and Western Hills play? What makes Western Hills the better team?
  8. We are almost a third of the way through the season. If you had to rank the teams in the 11th region 1 thru 17 how would it go?
  9. Western Hills will win this one late because they want it more than Franklin County and they are more fundamentally sound. They have J.T. Riddle and Jordan Queen (Division 1 players) that will take care of Franklin County. Franklin County won't be able to touch Riddle or Rawlings. 3-0 Hills pulls out the win.
  10. Western Hills has a good coaching staff. In the past, they have had some decent teams but with little depth and no dominating pitcher, it's extremely hard to compete in the 11th region. What most people don't realize is that baseball is not classified and the 11th region is full of schools that can re-load rather than re-build. If you put Western Hills in the 8th region they most likely compete much better. However, when you must beat schools 3 times your size every year, your chances are slim.
  11. Seeded. From my understanding, Western Hills was going to throw Rawlings and Franklin County was going to throw Thompson. Just wondering if this will change now with both teams having to play Woodford and Frankfort High first before playing each other. is Western Hills ranked in the top 10 and Franklin County not ranked. Both of them are undefeated at 7-0 and Western Hills has beaten P.R.P. and Tates Creek while Franklin County has beaten Scott County in 5 innings and West Jessamine fairly easy as well. More than likely, one of these teams is going to start the season 10-0 and the other 9-1 unless Woodford or Frankfort can pull an upset. Sure is a shame that Frankfort has 3 high schools. I would love to see these 2 teams combined. They would have a shot at winning the state tournament.
  12. Is there no information on the 11th region or 41st district available from anyone?
  13. The tournament showcases all of the 41st district teams in one bracket and 4 other teams in a different bracket. Why is this tournament set up like this? Who is favored to win the 41st district and the 11th region tournament? :idunno: On Monday, Western Hills will be playing against Franklin County. Will the Riddle kid and Thompson kid be throwing against each other? Is the game at Western Hills or Franklin County?
  14. I don't think you have done your research. It was only 2 years ago that Franklin County went to Lexington Catholic and was up by about 35 at half time only to fall a foot short in double-overtime to the Princeton Spread and Ben Revere. The following week Lex Cath lost to Cov Cath in overtime. Cov Cath won the state championship game by a landslide a week later. The problem Franklin County has had over the past 5 years is that they had to play Highlands until things were re-districted. Franklin County would have most likely beaten the Boyle County teams when Ammons was there. However, Ammons was one of the best high school competitors to ever come through FCHS. Some kids just compete. Honestly, the game w/ Catholic was very similar to the Trinity / Male game that was played at Papa John's when Brohm squeeked out a win against one of Kentucky's best ever... It was the Revere & Ammons show...
  15. Blodgett if Tates Creek can come out of the 11th region and their district. It's the toughest district in the state and could produce the state champions again. I know a couple years back, the district was the state championship game for two years in a row bet/ Catholic and Dunbar...
  16. I am not 100% for sure but normally any player that has signed a D1 scholarship automatically makes this list unless coaches don't submit the name and/or coaches are not a member of the KHSBCA. However, when dealing with this many players, it's easy to leave someone off.
  17. What about outside Lexington? Coldiron at Madison Central, catcher at Scott Co, Sherrow @ Woodford Co, Queen @ Hills and Thompson @ Franklin County. Rumor has it that the 41st has 3 high 80 pitchers in Sherrow, Thompson and Riddle and that Western Hills and Franklin County are loaded with talent everywhere. Willard seems to think that his Cardinals have a chance at winning the district championship again and you know MC will win theirs by a landslide.
  18. Turpin is the best in the region by far. If he were only 6 foot. Russell is average at best. The kid from Shelby and North Oldham would be #2 and #3 but Turpin can carry a team on his back with great range at SS and an excellent lead-off man. The big question will be if Shelby can develop a shutdown pitcher. Anderson doesn't have one pitcher to keep you scoreless.
  19. That's much better! I always like to here support "Engineer" and now you are talking baseball. However, no mention of HC, Scott Co, Franklin Co, Woodford, Madison Central, etc. Don't be surprised if this year the region champion doesn't come from outside Lexington. I know it only happens about one every ten years but Lexington is kinda spread out and wide open this year with the traditional powerhouses being down as compared to the last few years. Also, I think the other two districts may have a team or two that can finally compete with the Lexington schools. However, with that being said, I still think the favorite has to be TC. Who knows what team will come out of that district, much less the region. It does make for good conversation though...
  20. It is my understanding that the baseball coaches association and softball coaches association have gone to the KHSAA to request for a 4 class system in baseball. This would definitely solve a lot of these problems. In many cases, teams are winning by 20 and 30 runs and mostly because they only take 15 kids to a varsity game, which means limited subs, and the smaller schools run out of pitching and have to throw a middle school kid against a large school that is forced to play them because of district seeding. I witnessed one game that was 32-0 in 4 1/2 innings and the team that one played over 20 kids but the losing team threw an 8th grader 200 pitches and the 8th grader gave up 20+ walks. U tell me, what did either team get out of that.
  21. Go to the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association and most of the regions have updated the site for this year. Others will shortly. There should be a pre-season all-state poll out shortly and most regions will submit a pre-season all-region team as well as comments on teams within their region for the upcoming season. http://www.khsbca.com
  22. "Engineer" needs to do some homework. Tates Creek is loaded. Bryan Station will be good but probably still #3 in the district behind HC and Scott Co. Madison Central has been waiting on this group to arrive and they have several kids with 2+ years of experience returning. Western Hills graduated zero seniors 2 years ago and 1 senior last year. This is the best Wolverine team since the school was created, 2 division 1 commitments already. Woodford will be average unless the ace pitcher is allowed to play and according to Coach McDonald, this will be the best team he has had since his run to the final four. Don't forget Dunbar who will reload instead of rebuild after graduating several D1 players over the past 2 years. This year, more than any other year in the past 10, this region is wide open. The winner of this region will be the team that gets the best draw and can save their pitching for games 2 and 3 of the region tournament.
  23. Where is Lex Cath and Paul Dunbar? Are you saying that Tates Crk, Western Hills and Franklin Co are the teams to watch in the 11th region? How could they be favored over LC and PD... Tates Crk will be very good but may not make it out of the district AGAIN. Woodford County has the best pitcher in the region in Sherrow. They could upset either of the Frankfort teams with him on the mound.
  24. Congrats Don! You guys did a great job of coaching tonight and your players executed great. Talk the Talk and Walk the Walk. You deserve it. WHHS fans, leave him alone. He does a great job of preparing for his opponents. Curry looked great as well. He throws with great accuracy and makes great reads. WHHS earned this one. They looked very determined...
  25. I am just glad that some people think we have a game this week. :laugh:That's why it is great that they have moved this game to the beginning of the year instead of late. Wolverine fans actually believe they have a chance (and they might). Can you give us a couple of examples that make you think that WHills has improved?
