The Red Rambler

I'm certainly not going to make a prediction. My username says it all, I love Raceland and Russell both and while The Red Rambler is official mascot of the fictional consolidated East Greenup High School by bi-polar fandom will be in a full on manic episode as The Red Devils and Ramblers face off. I will say the Russell's pass defense has been a problem at times and Raceland's passing attack is what it is. While it's not as dominant as it has been the last few years under Grizzle, Boyles is a more than capable Quarterback and he has a bevy of weapons at his disposal. Both teams are VERY physical and while punch each other in the mouth. I don't think there is an andavtage either way because neither one of these schools is going to back down. I go to plenty of Russell games and have seen them several times this year though and Russell's rushing attack is hard to stop once it gets going. I hope Jones plays because he is a joy to watch on the football field. He plays with a ton of heart and character and is the spark plug that makes the Red Devil engine run as well as it does. I know Russell's Coaching staff is certainly not taking this game lightly because they I know Raceland sure the heck isn't. The Rams have been hungry for this game for a LONG time. Both of these programs have the two best staffs in Northeastern Kentucky. Vanderhoof may well be the best Head Coach in the long and storied tradition of Raceland football and Ivan McGlone is an absolute statewide legend. It will be a treat to see these guys match wits. I still can't believe its taken this long to get these two together. It should be a fantastic game and no matter who wins I just hope the kids keep their heads on straight, don't let emotions get the best of them, and the game remains injury free. I also hope that the students of each school will show class towards one another (wishful thinking) and us fans and alumni show the same amount of class. This is just high school football after all and this is a game that should be fun for entire community if we let it be. Good luck to both teams this Friday.

A dramatic finish with Mason County going for 2 instead of playing for the second overtime. With the #1 seed in the district on the line no less. Man, I think i would have kicked it. I don't know. Tough call, if he makes the conversion he is a genius.

I am most certainly wrong, but I thought the rule was the ball had to be tippied by a defensive player prior to the receiver being knocked down. In your scenario that didn't happen so I am going make a best guess and say Pass Interfence on the defender. Ball moved to the spot of the foul and automatic first down. I am likely wrong and this is why I am not an official.

I'm sorry I've seen Russell play several times this year. To say they are a "borderline" Top 10 3-A team is insulting to the fans, the kids, the program, and the staff. I am most certainly a Russell fan, but I by no means a Russell fan like some of the other Russell fans on here. My son goes there, my Father played there, and I went there for a time, but my heart belongs to the Orange and Black down down the road. So I am not looking at this thing through any maroon glasses. I follow them and cheer for them, but come October 26th my loyalties lie elsewhere. So I am able to look at things objectively here. Russell in this "down" season is 7-1 and they definitely deserve to be not only in the Top 10, but the Top 5 3-A teams in the state based on their play on the field. They have played the schedule put in front of them and walked away so far with only one scratch to a 6A school...by a point. If that's not Top 10 then I don't know what is. :fight: We shall see come playoff time I suppose. :ylsuper: If I am wrong, I will gladly eat my plate of crow with mashed potatoes.

Yeah that "borderline" school has just went to the State title games the last two seasons and just lost to a 6A Northern KY school by one points in dramatic fashion. That's REAL borderline there.

Hey now I was making a funny! Yup looks like our senses of humor were left at home this fine Monday! :lol: I pretty much agree here, but I still think they deserve to be in the Poll of Mediocrity. I was told once by someone who once graced the pages of the ADI that it was mostly one person. And sometimes a live chimpanzee on loan from Petland. :thumb: On a good day I think Fairview, East, and West Carter could all beat Ashland. I am not overly impressed with them like some people. They have one of the best running backs in the region, too bad they stuck him at Quarterback the first half of the season. That move may have cost them their shot at the playoffs. Wins over a 1 win Boyd and a dysfunctional Greenup don't impress me.

I would say Ram forgot Ashland. He is a Ashland apologist :fire: so I find him leaving them off a bit shocking! :eek: LOL! :lol: Mine would be: 1. Johnson Central 2. Russell 3. Raceland 4. Fairview 5. Ashland 6. West Carter 7. East Carter You could make a solid case to flip West and Ashland based on records, but Ashland's schedule gives them the slight nod. I put Fairview @ 4 based on their record. Ashland can talk about Class "A" teams playing easy schedules or whatever, but they lost to two Class A teams already this year. So I'm not buying that argument...yet. :thumb:

West gets hosed again. A team that is 3-4, that beat the #6 team is tied for 7th with a team with only 1 win? I know this poll literally means nothing in the scope of life, but you know come on. At some point you should want your publication not to look stupid. Jeez. Can someone find out if Craig James votes in this poll?

Morris has been in the press box a couple of times this year for health reasons. It's not affected his Coaching one bit. Russell has a young defense and a young secondary. They will come around and last time I checked the Devils were still unbeaten. I don't know that you can ask for more than that.

Hard to believe this is the last home game fo the regular season for the Devils. Talk about saving the three best games for last! Simon Kenton, followed by a trip to Mason County, and then the renewal of a rivalry some 34 years in the making at Raceland. This is the Devil's senior night, it will have been a rainy sloppy week, the field will still be slow and I think that favors Russell and power running game. This will be a fantastic ball game, but I think the emotion of Senior night and the last regular season home game will get the Devils off to a fast start and help them ward off a late SK rally.
