Ashland gets dismantled by Woodford County and remains in the poll while West Carter knocks off East? Oh well- good thing the poll means nothing!

So whats New! See what happens if they knock off Greenup. Maybe #3.

Yeah really, this means nothing but using ink on paper but still come on Ashland is terrible. And West Carter deserves to be in the top 7 Coach Brown and his staff have done a great job.

I agree with others that West probably should get some respect on this and as has been said it really means nothing but something for everyone to complain about. My big complaint (and it is nor really a complaint bc it doesn't matter) is still Russell ahead of JCHS, no way are they better. Russell, should be at #2 with JCHS at #1.

I agree. Now if Russell should beat Simon Kenton on Friday, I would say they are right where they belong. If they loose they will drop and JC will be Number 1.

It's possible that Russell and Johnson Central could both lose and that Raceland and Fairview would win. What would the top four look like if that happened?

I don't know what the top four would look like, but Russell and Johnson Central will remain the best two teams in the area regardless of losses to teams outside of NE KY.

I'm in no way disputing which teams are the best only what the paper's interpretation would be.

IMO, it will take a major upset for either Russell or JC to drop below #2. Losses to Simon Kenton and Central wouldn't fall into that category.

Personally I agree with you, I only saw the possibility of the scenario and threw it out for others to comment on.

This just proves the ole theory that people sometimes THINK you are crazy...but when your print your opinion in the paper then they KNOW you are crazy....no thinking needed.

My assessment:

1. Johnson Central - A notch better than any team in our area. They would hammer any team playing except Russell would be a decent game, but would still be a loss for Russell.

#2 - Russell -Russell once again is very good, but just how good. They barely sqeeked by Boyd County then barely squeeked by Ashland. Both Boyd and Ashland are struggling this year, so just how good is Russell? What would the score be if JC played Ashland and Boyd...Not sure, but I could tell you they wouldnt sqeek by them, it would be ugly and will be ugly for Ashland. So with that in mind JC should be #1.

3. Raceland - Solid year, battling some injuries, definetly deserve the #3 spot.

4. Ashland - Tough Schedule. Will be tough down the stretch if they can keep focused.

5. Paintsville - 2 losses, but those came to JC and Sheldon Clark, has played a decent schedule, but as good as the other teams in the area.

6. Fairview - Weak schedule in my opinion and didnt beat any of the decent teams on their schedule. Time will tell the truth for this team.

7. Boyd Co/Lawrence/Rowan Co - Your guess is as good as mine on these teams. None are better then the other or worse then the other....Strange year.

East Carter, West Carter and Greenup Co all have the potential but cannot put together a solid season.

Lewis Co and Morgan are just Lewis Co and Morgan...Trying to compete at a decent level with lack of numbers and athletes. Unfortunate for those schools.

BTW, why isnt Sheldon Clark part of these Rankings...Doesnt The Ashland Daily Indepent cover Inez too or are they weeded out by the Big Sandy News...Which personally I would rather read the Big Sandy News, they are all about the youth and the WHOLE area. I can remember taking Boyd County JFL teams to play in that area and we had full page article on the youth football games, where Ashland Daily Independent would not even put a score in the paper if you begged them.

Paintsville's two losses came agains JC and Prestonsburg, their 4 wins came against 4 of the weakest teams in 1A Phelps, South Floyd, Allen Central and Besty Layne.

You got to be kidding me man, Ashland a decent team, teams can't help the schedule they play, they just play it (Fairview for example). Do your homework before you post also, Raceland hasn't played that decent of schedule either, Paintsville has played a horrible schedule till now. All I say is do your homework before you post things about other teams. Raceland, Paintsville, and Raceland could easily win and compete in that 4A district with Greenup, Boyd, Rowan, and Lawrence. That isn't supposed to happen either when those schools have 700 more students.:fire:
